Giant manta in the six million gallon saltwater tank. Her name is Nandi and has a 12 foot wingspan. This is one of the few giant mantas living in an aquarium.

Man that aquarium is wild. Manta's usually cant live in captivity and will turn suicidal, and just stop eating. If that manta is there and that big, those techs know what they are doin.

@@kotorandcorvid4968 To be fair, I don't know how aquariums feed their plankton feeders, but also, he followed the other ray with its wide open mouth. That ray must have in its feeding path, right? It's still very threatening. The smaller ray could have literally filled its mouth. There's no telling how crazy a zoo animal can get. Doesn't seem much different to me then one of those pelicans experimenting with a pigeon.

It's white and black coloring is beautiful. I like how it's following it's smaller cousin around. (The smaller ray is either a cow nosed ray or bat ray, I can't tell. Not a stingray though, oddly people mistake all rays for stingrays even though they're very different looking.)
@hypanusamericanus9058

The smaller one is a cownose ray (Rhinoptera bonasus). You can tell because of the light coloration and the large spiracles. Manta rays lack stingers, though they technically are stingrays since they belong to the suborder Myliobatoidei.

@@absolutebeast5850 I am talking about the common name, not the scientific name. Scientific names often change, such as when organisms get reclassified (ex. Manta alfredi to Mobula alfredi). On the other hand, common names, which are basically layman's terms, almost never change, which is why Mobula alfredi is still called the reef manta and why no one is pushing to change the common name to reef mobula. An exception would be when the American Fisheries Society changed Epinephelus itajara’s common name from “jewfish” to “goliath grouper” in 2001 due to the former’s cultural insensitivity, though both terms continue to be used.
