Even at head high that paddle out is a chore and the waves are heavy. This is way more intense than it looks. Respect.

You guys have an awesome hard-core crew of 8 - 10 surfers who can actually paddle out into those freaking freight-trains and then have the heart to turn and drop into those bombs. Amazing, fun to watch! Great footage.

I’ve surfed ocean beach 6-8 feet and it’s a spooky place. Major under tow, rip currents, super cold water and super dark green water that leaves in in the pitch black every time you wipe out or just dive under a wave. And then there’s the great white sharks! Ya it’s a fun place! 😱🙈🙀 🦈🦈🦈 😹

Hats off to those brave enough to paddle out to this size where channels are hard to find.

That's the way out on that size break. Nice waves brings back memories of 83/84 El Nino.....it was like this for 8 months.....wonderful time to live at the beach ( as a surfer) not a homeowner

Was my home break for 4 years, hardest spot to paddle out that I have surfed. Cold water, no channels, crazy current, endless duck diving. Keeps the crowds thin when it gets big.

As a dude who grew up surfing on the North shore and San Diego and Orange county with blacks Beach being my favorite when it was big just because of growing up on the North shore I've always still been deathly afraid of ocean beach in San Francisco! I've never surfed there but I think it was one of the dudes who pioneered surfing Cortez Banks that said it was just like a day with six to eight foot faces out there and he broke his neck and was almost paralyzed. You hear of this stuff on the North shore too and you hear ambulances occasionally when you're surfing on the North shore but still it never fazed me like seeing and hearing about big Ocean Beach for some reason and I think it's the sharks too and the fact that the waters never that clear LOL
@reddiver7293 Жыл бұрын
I grew up on Kauai and Oahu, surfed winter swells and I agree that Ocean Beach is a scary looking place when it has some size. Shifting peaks and channels , sharks, cold water and, I'm sorry, just not a lot of make-able close out waves. Better odds than Puerto Escondido. But not by much. Still, if you or I grew up there, guaranteed we'd have charged those shifting peaks and walls.

That paddle out looks pretty hectic, especially if ya gotta board with lots of volume.

That paddle is tough, I've done the walk of shame more times than once there. When the fog is in and you have no idea if you are making progress......

Yeah the great bar, all sand, when it starts breaking that far out the beach is getting close to being overloaded. The great bar runs in a U shape outside the Golden Gate, the furthest part of the U is about 3 miles out.

The great bar, runs in a U shape outside the Golden Gate. Basically a giant river mouth, where the bay exits. It's sediment from the bay tide shifts.

Either an outside bar...or perhaps what they call Potato Patch.

I prefer 4 to 6 feet in the corner .number of Wave compared to our there. Over the plumbing to. 30 years of duck diving that stuff you just grow old of it. Plus when you get out your 2 miles from where you parked. Haha. Ob is insane and if you can surf there like that you can surf anywhere if you ask me. Props to the chargers
