Disclaimer: I’m very lucky to have viewers from all over the world. My Italian friends pointed out a mistake in the word 'SCALDATAZZI,' which should actually be 'SCALDATAZZE.' I'm fortunate again because an 'I' can be changed to an 'E,' and since it’s the last letter in the word, there’s enough space to fix it. I will send Lance a mask of an E and color, along with detailed instructions on how to correct the mistake properly. Thank you for your support!

I do so love your videos. I am a repairer (bikes mainly, but also other things, at our local 'Repair Café' ) and they inspire me to do a better job. I go through episodes of depression and hopelessness, (it's a long-term condition) and your videos remind me that if you are methodical, and do one thing at a time as well as you are able, you come up with a result, after much work, of something that is useful and beautiful. So thankyou for that. p.s. I liked your La Pavoni video so much that I went out to look for a 'pre-millenium' Europiccola, but couldn't find one. But the local importer was doing good deals on new ones, so I bought one, and spent a fair bit of money 'tweaking' it to get it back close to how the classics were. It's the best coffee I've ever made! Thankyou again.

Good sir... I am in awe of this! I'd only known the name Ariete as an Italian Army tank. But this restoration was absolutely amazing. Your attention to detail and artistry shames all other restorers. You improved on the original. I see you filed down original casting marks for a smoother finish, and there is lighting in the interior that adds interest to the works. The wood knobs replacing the original Bakelite (?) are quite nice and give a more pleasing and "organic" look. The color scheme you gave it makes it perfect for my kitchen. Blue and gold feature heavily in my kitchen. In fact, I'll give you my address so that you can send it over. LOL. How you managed to understand the complex workings and every part without going mad is beyond understanding. Words fail me. Now, as for your beer review... I've only ever appreciated one Italian beer and that is Peroni, which is a credible lager. This one that you present you did compare to a hefeweizen, which I have never had a taste for. But I do like that you reviewed an Italian beer after this extraordinary restoration of an Italian machine. It was a nice homage. If you ever have a chance, I would like your opinion on Königsbacher Pils from Koblenz which was our standard when I was growing up in the Hunsrück. We had Tucher and Bitburger as well, but Königsbacher was the local favorite. Thank you so very much for this. I hope you enjoy this machine for many years.

Its a beautiful looking restoration. How did you ensure it was still food safe? Brass is NOT food safe because of the Zinc and the traces of lead in the zinc will leach into any food it touches. And coffee is acidic so its extra likely to leach, which is why all the coffee-touching parts were chromed extra thick in the original manufacture.

The appearance of this machine as shown at 0:11 looks unchanged since 60s' because of that nickel plating coat. After you removed the nickel coat the brass will oxidize an become dull with oxidation stains. It will never retain same visual condition for decades like nickel plating did.
@Trixtah14 күн бұрын
Dr B explains at 17:18 that he's treated all the exposed brass and copper surfaces with "Everbrite" resin coating. It's flexible and won't chip or peel even with contraction and expansion of the metal due to heat, it contains antioxidants to help prevent tarnishing/oxidation, and it's definitely more resistant to fingerprint marks than chrome. So it's not raw, exposed metal and should not at all become dull while the coating remains intact.
