That's awesome, man! You are so right about the deer up there! I have had the great fortune to travel to northern Alberta and hunt deer up there in the bush. It's surreal. They are absolutely nothing like the deer here. I live in Georgia and we hunt large agriculture fields a lot and the deer bust you constantly if you're not absolutely careful. It is so much different up there. I would sit from sun up to sun down and it's so freaking thick...and you might not see a deer all day!!! Here in Georgia I'll see +20 deer a day roaming the fields. However, if you are fortunate enough to see one of those 300 pound giants roaming the bush there it can literally be the buck of a lifetime. Congrats!!!

I very much enjoy your hunting videos! Great videography of beautiful deer and scenery, difficult hunting, excellent marksmanship, and most of all respect for the animal. In my 45 years of deer hunting, I have learned the tremendous value of scouting, intelligence, camera surveillance, patterning, time of year, moon phase and position, and weather. One buck I worked on for 2.5 years before moving in to hunt and got the shot on the first sit. Another place I worked for 4 years not for a specific buck, but because the location develops into a series of competitive scrapes that covers a 25 yard area and bucks check it regularly. The problem is with the lay of the land and normal wind it is impossible to hunt. I built a blind in a good spot hoping to be able to hunt - no good all season. Finally last year on one afternoon in the last week of November everything was right. I slipped in to the blind which is right on the edge of the very thick cover. Finally a Booner ghosted in but I could never thread a bullet through the thicket. It was a thrill seeing him. Fifteen minutes later a brute moved in from a different direction. I had the scope on him for a full ten minutes watching for a path for the bullet. Finally a tiny clear opening, I squeezed the shot, and he crumpled. A real beautiful brute, again on the first sit.

Don't worry, we definitely recognize the privilege and advantage we have due to the region we're born and raised in. The first rule to killing big deer, is to hunt where big deer live. The hardest part is finding them.

Not required by law to wear orange during firearms season here in Alberta. Plus, where we hunt, there are extremely low levels of other hunters and would have to stumble on us in our stand by pure chance. So we don’t feel it’s necessary to wear for safety purposes either.
