I believe gravel bikes are going to become the top selling bikes among the older people wanting to recapture some of that youth. The older group newbe's that haven't been on a bike since they were kids may find wider tires feels more secure. For some of us that are a bit heavy or not as flexible and want comfort as we ride may find wider more appealing also. I'm in that group. I tried 3 bikes and decided on the bike with wider tires (the Trek Domane ALR 5). That bike came with the Schwalbe G1. I love my bike and now my confidence is to the level that I am ready for a proper road bike with 25c tires. If the bike companies are smart they already see the 50 and over crowd as a huge market. I'm retired and after all people in my group got the time and money to get out there and ride. Clint I love your videos and I'm happy you are still reviewing Giant bikes, congratulations on making that happen.

I find that it takes you on roads/ paths that are free from motor vehicles. I can enjoy the ride more and see areas / scenery not typically associated with pavement (highway) travel. The larger tires do better at navigating through rougher roads and gravel than anything less than 32 mm. the most fun I have had was with my Gorilla Monsoon, but stoked to give the Giant Revolt a spin through those same areas (hopefully quicker and less fatiguing).

Just wanted to say thanks for the videos. Watched several and find them helpful. I have a tcx slr2 and wanted to buy the new revolt but was unsure about 1x. Got the revolt with 2x because I have an occasional IT band issue the started last year on a bike tour with my son. Also it is great to see you riding with your son. My son loves to ride and is at the point of outpacing me, hard to accept but awesome to see him progress and love the sport

Great review, I get a lot from your videos thanks. I had been hanging out for a revolt review before deciding what to upgrade to from my Trek Checkpoint ALR5. Couldn't wait any longer so I went for a Spec Diverge Expert with the future shock. Very happy with that. I'm a 1-by convert (again thanks to your input). One thing I'd like to hear your views on is what the Revolt is like in single track. Not sure if you do much of that. I am finding gravel bikes a blast to go back over all the flowy trails that are too easy on my mtb. So I like a more agile geometry which I think I got in the Diverge. The revolt had a long wheelbase on paper.

Nice review, I got 1by and before I bought my bike I was sure the jumps between the gears will be a disadvantage, but actually it’s great. Got the Sram 1x11. It just requires you to raise the cadence a bit more before shifting and you feel like you still have power in your disposable while doing that, which leads to overall less gear change and that is great in my opinion. Love my one by.

I own a Revolt Advance 2 and find it to be more race oriented than other gravel bikes I rode. The seat to handle bar drop is about an inch more than other bikes I rode. Did you find that true on yours? It’s marketed as a gravel bike you can road ride too. I’d have to agree with that.

@ClintGibbs
@ClintGibbs 6 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I don't feel that suspension on a bike makes a huge difference on things like washboards. It helps but not much. On washboards the hits are so repetitive the suspension packs up. Nonetheless I really want to try to test Niner's new full suspension gravel bike next year. The Revolt is REALLY compliant.

Not judging, I hear this term a lot now, and just wanted to know why.

Al Duarte, It's all about what max tire width you want and what each frame will accept. Secondarily, frame geometry. I am a roadie too but do have an old CX bike that only accepts up to 32 mm wide tires. I want to be able to ride something wider. I already own a TCR and had a hard time deciding between the new Defy and the Revolt. The Defy will handle more like the TRC, the Revolt will be more stable and less race-twitchy. Defy only accepts up 32 wide so I went with the Revolt....on order and hopefully will come in before the end of the year.
