GIANT RIVER BUFFALO FISH! | Fishing Frogs for Bass Under Trees

I'm bass fishing with Carson on the river in his jet boat going after largemouth bass on the bank. We caught a giant buffalo fish on a crankbait while we were bass fishing. The best fishing technique for big bass on this trip was using a frog and fishing in under trees in the shade. We caught Guadalupe bass and some other small bass on crankbaits and spinnerbaits but the biggest bass clearly wanted a frog. I'll show you how to fish specific fishing lures in the river to catch bass. I'll also share some of the fishing rods I'm using on this trip to make it easiest to cast where the bass are hiding. The river that we are fishing is located south of Austin, TX and it is a shallow rocky river that requires the use of a kayak or aluminum boat to get around to the various pools where fish are living.

One of my favorite videos, I love this type of fishing! Hmm biggest non bass while bass fishing, I have to think on that because there have been several, The one and only time I ever went smallmouth fishing was in the upper Ouachita River up in Arkansas I was using a spinning reel with 8 lb flouro fishing a shakyhead with a little zoom chigger craw, hooked into a 25 lb carp right in the back and somehow managed to land it! It was a fun trip we were floating the river in a canoe, my son and I and we each caught our first smallmouths and several spotted bass. We live in Louisiana so we don't get to fish for smallmouth unless we travel out of state.

That's awesome! What State was it in? I live in Arkansas and love fishing for anything, but I chase Bowfin up in the small tributaries of the Arkansas River a few times a year. I'm always hoping I will catch a record! lol! We get some pretty big ones and they're a lot of fun. I think I am close to catching a state record Spotted Gar here in Arkansas. Nice Buffalo! I love fishing the river, you never know what your going to catch. I caught an 8 pound channel cat when jigging a worm for bluegills on an ultralight rod. That was sure a surprise!

I've caught 5 carp in my life on lures-in the mouth! 1 on a Rebel crawdad in a stream. 4 on Rooster Tail spinners in lakes. Never more than 8 pound test line. People don't believe me when I tell them though. Too bad!
