Well, you're not going to eat it! And why would you want to kill such a beautiful animal?
@slikisokus3 жыл бұрын
If you're not eating the fish then obviously release it. But... The question is: exactly how ethical it is to cause stress and suffering to an animal just for fun? (I am talking about C&R in genera). I had some kids in my neighbourhood that used to throw rocks at cats "just for fun". How is this different? I love fishing! But I believe that this is a form of hunting. You hurt an animal and you get to eat it. Otherwise it is just abuse.

Its AWESOME to see Gar getting the attention they deserve ! I grew up [in the 80s]' fishing with my dad an granddad for Gator Gar , right in the middle of downtown Dallas Tx ! Back then VERY FEW people knew that these monster size fish even existed ! I landed my 1st Gar [just under 100 pounds] less than a mile from downtown Dallas when I was 12 in 1981 ! It was a BLAST an I was [like my grandfather] instantly addicted to hunting for the big Gar that back then were pretty much EVERYWHERE in the Trinity !

Ty, my friend, I’ve been making a habit of commenting on your vids for a while now, and watching you grow as a fisherman and conservationist has been a privilege. This video, actually this fish, is one of my faves so far… her size, her coloration, her attitude… just… wow. Gator gar are one of my bucket list fish… one day, I swear, I will set a hook into one of them… and see my daughter do the same! AND… you lost that second fish and didn’t even have to bleep them video! 😉🤣🤣🤣
@TyPigPatrol3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for always watching and commenting man! i appreciate it! This fish was pretty specail to mee as well, did you notice how calm she was during the whole pictures and release? so cool!
@ArmchairDeity3 жыл бұрын
@@TyPigPatrol she was all that and more man… such an apex predator that she just doesn’t need to go agro. If something is big enough to eat her… well then there ain’t no point to thrashing around. And if not, it’s probably something she can eat! Other than people, and maybe alligators, there’s nothing that could even touch a full grown gator gar.

Thanks to you and Henry for expressing your opinions on preserving the alligator Gar as a precious resource. Why anglers and archers would kill these giants and then leave them on the bank to die in agony is beyond understanding. Their status should be one of a top notch gamefish equal to bass, trout, salmon, etc. The Gar you caught was a beautiful, representative specimen, just about perfect proportions. I love the toothy beak on those critters!

@@TyPigPatrol Ty, I see kudzu on the banks. I hope you know... It's extremely edible and delicious. Find some growing away from where most humans go and fill up a bucket with the leaves and flowers. They're delicious fried, or boiled with vinegar and onions and garbanzo beans, and you can make rice and hamburger "pigs in a blanket" with them. With grape leaves, you'd want immature leaves for that. But with kudzu, mature leaves are the most palatable. Give it a try sometime.
