I'll let Tony know about zooming out a bit. It may not be totally practical for him to do given the way his phone focuses. Zooming in and out makes it much more likely for the sensor to defocus. Appreciate the feedback, DW!

I’d love to see a video that explains your more advanced mixing techniques like the “snap flaps” and how it helps the plane perform harriers. I can’t seem to find any videos explaining that.
@TwoBrosRC2 жыл бұрын
No need for a vid, it's just aerodynamics at work. Snap flaps are a simple mix of elevator to flaps, usually two mixes need to be used - one is set to 100% and 100% or -100% and -100%, whichever commands the flaps to drop as the elevator is pitched up. The second mix is identical but set to 50% or so in order to get 150% throw on the flaps, so they deploy fully when the elevator is pulled while the mixes are activated. This generates a massive amount of lift and allows a quick vertical wall maneuver with most props. The quick explanation for harrier mixing is that throwing flaps up into the airflow of the prop wash can result in a stable harrier. It's more noticeable with models like the Night Timber X. Without flaps scheduled upward into the prop wash, the model will violently wing rock as each wing stalls, one after the other. With the flaps scheduled up, the wing rock is minimized or entirely eliminated because it stabilizes the airflow over the wing and keeps it from separating as easily. It's not as effective on the Cub - that is to say we've only performed it once and it was weird feeling the entire time.
@Bengraziano2 жыл бұрын
@@TwoBrosRC Thanks for the technical explanation! I understood that it’s just an elevator to flap mix but I didn’t understand why it helps with those maneuvers. I would try to harrier my CZ Cessna 150 often and I found that dropping the flaps halfway would help with the wing rock. Thanks!
@TwoBrosRC2 жыл бұрын
Dropping flaps in high AoA maneuvers will significantly increase the risk of an asymmetric stall - that so-called "tip stall" people often talk about - which will lead to a potential spiral and catastrophic wreck at low altitude. Scheduling flaps upward is usually the best way to approach it and helps get the wing out of the way so it flies purely on thrust instead of flying in high alpha.

Wow, your flying skills are amazing. I wonder if Horizon Hobby ever thought anyone would 3D that plane, especially on floats. I have a new CarbonZ Cessna150T, ready to maiden any day now. Wonder if you’d mind answering another question for me. Is it possible to have switch activated telemetry voice alert on the ix12? I’d like the ability to toggle switch G (for example) and get an instantaneous Altitude voice alert. I’m getting the altitude readouts on the dashboard but don’t want to take my eyes off the plane.
@TwoBrosRC2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Wolfgang. It's possible to have a switch control altitude callouts. This is done in the Voice Alerts section of the IX12 Mode Setup menu and commanding a switch position to call out $Altitude in the Custom Switch Reports on a timed basis - or you can just keep flipping the switch. I personally use switch I because it's a pushbutton system.

Just curious, do you use a flight simulator for practice or did you just wreck hundreds of planes to get to where you are in your flight abilities? I’m asking because I’m just getting back into the hobby after flying nitro as a kid in the 80’s and 90’s when everything was a balsa build and our main objective was to get the plane down in one piece. Great flying my friend! If you do use a simulator, which one is it and do you know if there are any good ones for Mac?
@TwoBrosRC2 жыл бұрын
I've been flying Microsoft Flight Simulator since 1995. Most of my ability to fly comes from understanding stick movements since I was nine. I got into RC with RealFlight, but I don't recommend it for anything more than basic stick understanding. The physics are very poor and do not represent model flight well enough to train you.

Hi Kenneth! Thanks for checking out my channel. I used the GT Power 3w Aircraft Lighting System from MotionRC. I just cut into the wings with a sharp blade and ran the lights through the channel I created, then sealed the channel with CA glue. I did something similar on top with the white strobe (ran the wire through the towing attachment hole) and on the bottom where the red anti-collision beacon is. It wasn't difficult at all.

I just got home from flying my carbon-z Cessna 150 on floats. One of my favorite planes. Have you ever had problems with those floats leaking? I had to replace the servo with a waterproof one. I tried my best to seal the float with some silicon but it’s still getting in there and I don’t want to have to take the cover off every time to empty the water out. I’m thinking about completely sealing it off and creating some kind of wire rig like the Turbo Timber has for its rudder.
@TwoBrosRC2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't call it leaking. The float system the Carbon Z models use is identical between the 150 and the Cub SS. The floats have a cavity the servo sits in which is open to water intrusion. I used a piece of EPO foam and jammed it into the open port in the rear of the float, then sealed it and the top of the float with silicone caulk. Haven't had a problem since.
@Bengraziano2 жыл бұрын
@@TwoBrosRC I think the problem is that little black plastic tube that the pushrod slides back and forth inside of. I’m going to try sealing that up around the “transom” of the float where the tube passes through it.
@TwoBrosRC2 жыл бұрын
@@Bengraziano Use some EPO foam and seal it with silicone. It'll fix that up real quick.
@Piano_Reimagined2 жыл бұрын
This will sound very wrong, but take a pencil and poke 2 holes at the back of each float. Obviously only do this if you have a waterproof servo. Water will get into the floats during taxi but on takeoff and climb out, the water will flow freely out of the holes and your floats won’t have water get trapped since it can flow freely out. There is no difference in performance with the water going into the floats before takeoff because when you accelerate, the water gets pushed out. Haven’t had a problem. Replaced the crappy servo with a savox one.

New to the hobby but I've put a few hours into the sim and the carbon cub s2. I bought this plane because I knew I would want to fly it some day. Do you think this is too big a step up from the cub s2 and should I fly an intermediate plane like the timber evolution before jumping into this plane. Its quite intimidating due its size lol. Thanks!
@TwoBrosRC2 жыл бұрын
I'd go with a Timber before moving up to this model. It's heavy. It flies better than most similar models at smaller scales, but it also requires being more in-tune with how aircraft fly. If you're not familiar with inertia, this model has it and it'll surprise you with how agile it is - yet how mushy it can feel if you're not flying at the right airspeed. Definitely work up to it. 1.5m models are a good step first.

@TwoBrosRC8 ай бұрын
Run the motor at 25% throttle with nothing attached to it, then hold a piece of sandpaper to the prop shaft and press hard for about 5 to 10 seconds. Wipe the motor shaft off with a paper towel and make sure it's clean of any leftover metal debris, then reattach the propeller assembly. If it comes off, it's because the entire front end of the aircraft departed. It should hold fine. ;)
