These used to shoot over my Gran's garden in Holdsworthy Devon in the 60s . Black and yellow stripes underneath so possibly relegated to target tugs .

Yeah, it's such a classic design. ATAC has a few of these that they're operating here in the states.

Such a beautiful flying jet and excellent skills from the pilot. What jet were you previously flying that tuned in your flying skills to fly this beauty?

Well, I can't take credit for the airplane or flying in this vid as I was videoing at a competition. That said, scale flying is all about trying to simulate a full scale airplane in the air. So, my recommendation would be to work on smooth deliberate movements as the airplane maneuvers and to present and center maneuvers on yourself as you fly (consider yourself airshow center) emulating how a full scale airplane looks as it flies. In terms of airplanes, that part is less critical as you can practice scale flying with any type of aircraft truthfully (obviously some are better than others). Most of what I personally fly are warbirds and jets/edfs since that's where my interests are and the above is the approach I take when I fly. Many of the latest scale foam options are actually a great place to start practicing this style of flying. Then, you can work your way up to these larger airframes.

Excellent flight profile except for takeoffs. It seems that too many pilots feel compelled to horse their bird off the runway instead of letting it build up flying speed then gradually lift the nose and let the bird fly itself off the deck. No need to snatch it off the second it has velocity, IMPO. The landing was executed very well, though, and the overall general flying profile was very nice. EXCELLENT RC bird from a bygone era.

I hear you. Some of that is a result of having more thrust to weight than the full scale counter part, but also of course, the elevator input. Thanks for watching!

@@Thercgeek Yes, and another BIG reason is the location of the main landing gear relative to the C.G. of the airplane, which is further back in R/C than their real counterparts. This make the plane less "balanced" around it's pivot point (landing gear) and is usually the big factor in the "frog" jump take-off
