I feel terrible for Mo, he didn't even have a chance to react to the screen coming down like that. And to think that was the only major injury that happened on the tour, which could have hurt the other staff or members, as well. I pray he's able to walk again and it's amazing that a tycoon offered to pay his medical bills for him.

@@chrism869 no fr, if it was 3k pounds like they claimed its possible he could have made a speedy recovery and showed significant signs of improvement, but damn near 10k...Its a blessing he survived because he could have died from the concussion alone. I honestly feel bad for saying "its a blessing he survived" because people who sustain serious injuries like that talk about how much they suffer, the agonizing pain they endure, and how even after a FULL recovery they're still can feel the pain "as if it happened yesterday." I really hope he comes out and sue them because they should be the one paying for his medical bill not a tycoon

Wow that’s tragic but I know this might sound ignorant. I’m not surprised China have a lot of questionable things in general that’s been going on with their buildings and people been complaining about it. It’s all over the Internet. I’m not saying all of it is a absolute thing that be happening over there but, they’ve been getting caught up lately. I don’t know, if it’s just these bigger companies, just don’t care about their building and they’re just trying to make a quick buck but they need to be fine and go to jail for these negligence. And my prayers go out to that guy. He didn’t deserve that for real.😔

I remember going to EXO’s The Lost Planet 2013 concert in Hong Kong the night things went wrong - Tao fell into a hole where one of the moving platforms should’ve been, and staff accidentally let go of D.O’s flying swing and cause it to hit 2 fans. Suho had to stay behind in Hong Kong the next day to check on the fans in the hospital. I thought those were bad enough incidents for Hong Kong concert staff to improve their safety measures. I was SO wrong. I can’t believe they’ve learned nothing and allowed this tragedy to happen. They should’ve never let the concerts go ahead with such shoddy venue preparations.

I hope this will bring progress in terms of artist safety, not just in Hong Kong, but anywhere in the world. All of those actors failed him. They ruined someone's life. His passion, gone. This is such a heartbreaking incident and as someone who suffered a similar injury to Mo (from a car accident), but was able to recover and regain mobility, my heart really goes out to him. I’m a fan of Mirror and I remember when receiving the updates every night since day 1 about all the minor accidents which happened on the way and us fans were already very concerned about the company’s negligence. The platform (the one which was bending in the middle) was removed only when fans signed an online petition wanting them to stop using the platform. Fans have always been unhappy with their management for cutting costs and treating fans like “ATM”s. Actually, Mo is Anson Lo (member of Mirror)’s University friend and he had participated in the King Maker show together too. He is also the boyfriend of a member of Collar (girl group formed from King Maker 4), So Ching, and the accident caused some issues for the group, and she eventually had to leave the group earlier this year as it was hard for her to cope although mo had encouraged her to continue performing. It is heartbreaking how there are haters blaming mirror for “victimising themselves” although they were all on the same stage from the dancers and could have been injured too, and were definitely traumatised from the accident. They had also completely no control or say over the accidents and had to go on with the performance whether they wanted to or not. As time passes, I hope that Mo, who is showing great signs of recovery, will persevere on and get better, it is definitely not easy for him to be stuck in the hospital for such a long time. Also that Mirror can continue to move on and carry on their dream to reach a larger stage.❤ they have certainly went through a lot through these years and i hope that they can gain more recognition worldwide that they deserve. P.S. it will be great if you could stop by their MVs when if you can :) Let’s pray for a better future for Mirror and Rorrmi (the dancers) 🙏🏻

I have heard of this group a couple times but NEVER of this event. And the FACT that haters are blaming MIRROR for "victimizing" themselves, like I'm sorry, excuse me? Imagine performing and you hear the sound of something breaking and in a split second, a ginormous screen smashes your group members to the floor. Boy and girl bands, especially in Asia, are like family to one another, having a literal sibling relationship. If THEY saw their sibling or best friend or family member being crushed by a device that is 10x heavier then them and then rushed to the hospital and now have a high chance of never fully recovering, would they react that way?! Also of course the rest of the members would be traumatized by what happened and would suffer from PTSD. A fucking humongous screen fell from the ceiling, crushing their friends in the process, right in front of them and all they couldn't do anything about it. Who wouldn't be traumatized?!?! The fact that haters can't get their head out of their ass, especially from a life-and-death situation pisses me off, and they still try to find ways to put the blame on the members without thinking and realizing how fucked up this event was.

My friend was going to go to the show right after this one, it’s scary to think how traumatizing it could’ve been for her Edit: I want to clarify I'm not saying those who were there weren't traumatized as well, I feel horrible for the dancers who were injured and those who were in the audience. I should've phrased my comment better, what I meant to say is it's scary to think how because of neglect so many other performers could've gotten hurt on that stage and audience members would bear witness to that. My friend is just one of the thousands of people who could've been scarred because of the poor maintenance. I'm not trying to dismiss people's trauma, what they're going through is horrible. I’ve been watching a lot of documentaries on large scale construction projects (eg. installing what looks like a near impossible bridge crossing the Hoover dam or the dilemma of getting a tunnel boring machine unstuck under the Alps!) and this is the kind of expertise that is required. banning hanging large items is a bit of a bandaid - someone needs to get to the bottom of why the project was so poorly planned and how they were under so much pressure, they couldn’t give any attention to safety (and I’m sure they wanted to, they were stressing out clearly!). I hate to point fingers but I’ve heard too many incidents in China where corners are cut and people get hurt when it comes to quality of construction!

Ok, this is one of those stories that I thought would traumatize me with the video. Ploopy, I would like to thank you for first of all blurring out the actual scene of which it happened and second of all just making stories I can listen to while I study Korean! You are one of the best story tellers I’ve ever heard! Keep up the great work Ploopy!

Thank you for covering this story. I remember following the articles in real-time and being so heartbroken and scared for the performers. As a dancer myself, it's terrifying to have to trust that all those involved did their job correctly or the consequences can be disastrous... I wish Mo the best recovery and hope such a thing never happens again. I can't imagine the trauma for all those present

It was horrifying to watch the screen fall with someone (Mo) directly underneath it. I can't imagine what the people on stage and live audience members felt in those moments. I'm also not sure how all but two dancers managed to escape injury- if it was luck due to the choreography or some kind of noticeable sound/movement that made them rush to the side as it happened. I think it is unfortunate for the second injured dancer that the screen didn't ultimately land where it initially fell, since that is what led to his injuries. However, I think that is potentially what saved Mo's life.

crazy. seriously take the proper steps to fix stages. I remember seeing other groups experience stage problems (staff holding up the stage from underneath while BTS was performing) which goes to show this is a pervasive problem. I hope Mo heals as completely as possible. this is a tragedy that was very preventable.

I live in Hong Kong, and i am a big fan of MIRROR. I been supporting them since 2019 and I wasn't able to watch it but one of my friends who was at the concert was blowing my phone with notifications when i was showering and i checked it I heard the horrible news. And the thing that shocked me was when my favourite singer was there, Anson Lo, freaked me out more. I went to visit a memorial hosted by his friends, and it was sad to me. Lucky he is still alive but he is long to being healed. It still haunts me to this day and i hope this NEVER happens every again.

This is gonna be a lot of writing so here I go lol. As someone that has a father that is an rigger & event organiser and has grown up watching him I can state a few facts here after talking to him about this for awhile. Setting up time: legally the riggers and builders will only have 6-7 days to set up. The whole point is so the stadium it’s being held at can hold more event and get more money. This is a direct quote from my father “anymore kills the grass of the stadium” (grass means money if you don’t understand). So only having a week to set up in normal. Equipment still arriving while structures are being built: that is very normal in the industry. They also make sure to have “left overs” incase something does happen. Yknow spares. They should be doing safety checks on the equipment as it arrives so that was ignored by the builders in this case which is illegal. Only have a rehearsal the night before: that’s very normal in the industry of performing. Yes it’s very annoying but the whole point is got rehearse where it is cheaper and then do one big rehearsal and be ready for the concert. If there are multiple rehearsals you can “damage the stadium” sounds weird but that’s true. I can vouch for this as I’ve been in the dance industry for 11+ years. There is always a rehearsal the night before that’s just normal. Yes what these people did were illegal on the sense of lying to the government about weight of objects and not checking safety of the structures. But these things above that were seen as “bad” are really just normal and is what’s done pretty much everywhere. If this was a tour and they were going to multiple places then the rigging team and organisers would be at the next stadium already setting up while they are performing. Now that’s all cleared up I will say the video is good just make sure to double check some facts. Yes what happened is horrible and I feel so bad for Mo . I hope he can recover and be able to walk and enjoy life again and that the other dancers will be able to enjoy life and dance aswell. 💕

From your experience-if this is normal why don't these incidents happen more often? where could the negligence have taken place in this scenario?
@aidancarr4953
@aidancarr4953 8 ай бұрын
@@slylover123 well as I stated above the rigging team and event organisers failed to overlook materials and run test beforehand. In the video she stated the wire that was holding the screen. Before the screen was even attached to the wire they should’ve looked at the wire and test multiple different ones to see what would be best and hold that weight. But overall just not running test and safety inspections is what caused this to happen. It was 100% negligence from the everyone in the team. Them failing to give the correct weights to the government although illegal doesn’t really contribute to the accident itself. It just shows that the people were selfish and didn’t care if they had to cut corners and be cheap as long as they got money in the end.

@@slylover123 accidents do happen. If you look on the internet you will find many videos of lights falling from theatres (that’s pretty common) but it’s up to the staff to do the inspections and make sure everything is safe before someone becomes injured.

@@slylover123 just saying what I stated above was my opinion. I also asked my dad what he thought went wrong and what his opinion on it was, this was his answer: “there were many possible points of failure, and until the legal process has concluded we won’t really know what exactly went wrong. The court will have specialist look into the design of the equipment that fell and why it fell. They will figure out if corners were cut and who and why those corners were cut. Until then people who don’t know how the industry work shouldn’t be making videos trying to explain what went wrong. They can explain the situation”

Actually, I saw the video of screen falling long time ago and was like - what? this is real? And I had no idea who was that but I thought any kpop group. I feel so sorry for Mo and other who were involved in this incident, and those who are responsible should definetely be punished for lazy behavior on safety problems with the stage. Also, who has allowed the show to happen, was probably looking on profits and not safety of anyone. I hope that Mo recovers the best he can. #justiceforMo

This happened at my school too, and in front of my eyes. The only difference is it was a billboard instead of a giant screen, which honestly isn't any better. It was during the lunch break, at our school ground when we saw it falling and hitting a few 3rd or 4th graders. At the moment, we all went in shock, like we had seen a ghost or something. It was truly pathetic, but the worse part was that one kid apparently got paralyzed. Truly heart-wrenching. I pray for the kid and also the dancer. 😔
