Your comments on how the gauntlets interfere with your grip on the sword, remind me of cast and crew commentary on the 'RoboCop' DVD, in which actor Peter Weller hired a ventriloquist to teach him how to move robotically, only to discover he couldn't move that way when he wore the RoboCop costume. Good job. I didn't realize the suit weighed a full 100 pounds- I thought 80 was more typical of Medieval armor. Remember to stay hydrated- heat stroke is a VERY REAL problem when exercising in armor!

Lol. I didn't know that about Robocop. Good trivia. Yeah, the gauntlets are great and OP for Buhurt but they will literally get crushed from the torque moves with the Dragonslayer and they interfere with my movement. So fingered gauntlets it is, I'll have to seek out a good pair. I take a full camelbak with me on the "Colossus Campaign" when I fully kit up and go on long hike/jog/sprints while practicing martial movements. Happy New Year Long! It's good to hear from you!

You can train with the visor open, it's better for vision and breathing, also maybe in the future try practicing some slices against tatami mats or a gel ballistic dummy, happy new years and keep up the good work ;)

@@AscendantStoic Happy New Year! Thank you. I'm already on it! When fighting in armor with both Buhurt (which I do also) and other armored fighting the visor must be down and secured. So you should always practice how you fight. And since I'll be sparring with Giant Swords some day it's best to train properly, my channel is filled with examples of my training, especially the Shorts. Already did Ballistic Dummies! Come check them out! just shows how strong guts would've been with a weapon 8x that weight and much faster swing speed, even the fact that you're comparable to that though is ludicrous

Here's a question. When designing a giant sword wouldn't most of the benefit come from length rather than width? For the same weight you could have a sword way longer than that one right?
@DigitallyTwistedOutlaws1178
@DigitallyTwistedOutlaws1178 29 күн бұрын
A Giant Sword's strength is based on weight that leads to unstoppable impacts. Not entirely length, too long of a blade and some moves become excessively difficult to pull off and others almost impossible. You still want to be able to maneuver it in tighter quarters. But the fun thing about giant swords is that there can be all types for all situations. Just like regular weapons. And it also depends on the users style and their physical height and capabilities. So many opportunities!
@randybowman
@randybowman 29 күн бұрын
@DigitallyTwistedOutlaws1178 I was just thinking that because reach is such a big factor. That's part of why pole arms were so popular. So you'd think that longer would be better up until a point where the leverages get weird.

@@randybowman Lots of opportunities to explore! Although spears and other long shafted polearms/halberds were great stand-off weapons, they had serious weaknesses once an opponent had gotten past their points and optimal range. Opponents that had armor and/or an effective shield could breach such formations or personal defenses. Grappling is also an often overlooked factor for fighting, as it was a common tactic to throw down an opponent or disarm/lock them to negate their weapon. Alternate main weapons were a thing, and secondary weapons were also kept on person aling with a personal knife or dagger. Situations dictate when a weapon is most effective to use, but true mastery of combat arts is understanding that multiple weapons are always needed for offense and defense. I keep this in mind when I train with Giant Swords and is one of the main reasons I went into Muay Thai first and then Buhurt. To incorporare their realities into my Colossus Form. I still believe that someone can equally benefit from going to HEMA (harness/armor fighting though) and Judo. But I prefer my choices. Lol

@DigitallyTwistedOutlaws1178 the main benefits of martial arts in the modern era are mental and physical health anyways so I don't think you can make a wrong choice as long as you choose something you enjoy.
