I think your strenght and punching argument is very solid one, and one they missed completely. If you are confident enough on using giant swords, you are almost certainly stronger than the opponent. Also how much armor may significantly change the viability. What I disagree however is that how easy it would be to hit anything other than stationary object with giant sword strikes and especially recover after that. Thats why they are trying to keep the momentum, to not bet everything on one strike. I would be interested to see you hit something moving, opponent is going to try dodge after all. Well eventually anyway, I want nothing but for you to improve with your own pace how you see the best.

@tabull8180 You see, I've always felt that the "hit a moving object to prove it" is a slippery slope argument. How fast does it need to be? How large? My opinion us that it will be a wide margin. Most people are not as fast as they think they are but project that they are much faster. Definitely a worthwhile test. With the Colossus you can do combos, even for long periods of time. But it allows you to rest and not always be exerting energy such as trying to keep up momentum which you will lose once you hit a target..... maybe? Another good test idea. Thank you!

Shad used to be fun. I was a subscriber for years. A couple years ago his content went downhill and his attitude more so in my opinion. He acts like he knows everything and everyone who doesn't know or he doesn't like are morons. Very very patronizing. Also everytime his channel dips for any reason, it is youtube and the algorithm and people hating on him instead of his content being shit. Always someone else's fault HIS channel doesn't do well.

KZbin isn't killing Shad and Metatron's content. Less and less people are watching Shad and Metatron because they inject their politics into everything and alienate themselves from a wider audience and decry they are being 'shadow banned' because of the new lack of engagement. I recently found blumineck and robinswords, and Dash Rendar. Sword-Tubers. They make great content without injecting their politics into everything. And.. They're all doing great. I think the point from Shad and Meta is moot.

If you can get people to spar, I think it would really help showcase the utility and versatility of giant swords. My main concern is that sparring safely at the level of commitment needed to prove key points might be risky, but splitting it into complementary demos could work really well: Foam sword sparring: Capture fluid, real-time sparring using a foam sword that mimics the speed, swing, and impact of the giant sword. The sparring should focus on showing if or how easily opponents can maneuver, engage, and counter based on speed differences without suffering for doing so. Ensure that any movement accurately references how the giant sword would be handled, so the foam spar reflects realistic conditions. Steel sword speed and impact verification: After running through a few foam sparring rounds, review the footage to replicate swing and recovery and identify key contact points. Then, in a controlled setting with intentional distance, use the giant steel sword to act out those contact points, carefully mimicking the speed, swing, and impact demonstrated in the foam spar. This will help verify how much force transfers, what reactions are realistic, and how effective techniques translate. By showing both demos side by side-one for mostly unedited fluid sparring and the other spliced together for speed and impact verification-you could highlight both the tactical aspects and the raw power of giant swords while keeping things safe, accurate, and as objective as possible!

To be honest, probably would be easier and more realistic to go back in time with a machine and play whack a mole during Agincourt. But...... I accept your proposal. Plus there are humanoid machines coming into use.

i dont think foam is the best medium for this style of sword when it comes to safer sparing because your losing one of the biggest advantages of the massive swords which is the weight, something like a polypropylene or aluminum trainer might be better in that aspect

Nice exercise! Good luck with your forms! Might be beyond you atm, since youre using a massive hunk of iron, but remember to bring your point down first. Hella like the controlled reps! If you're not threatening your opponent, they won't respond defensively. It increases the odds that they'll respond offensively, its something most novices do instinctually. Making sure the strong of your sword is covering the same side you are cutting should help keep you safe. Hella rate the passion and commitment! If you want to make your forms more effective for combat, I'd recommend learning some german and italian longsword, it'll give you the basics on what to look for while greatsword sources should help on further developing techniques.
