Thanks Connor, This video helped me narrow down if not decide what EMTB I should buy as a 55-year-old hasn't biked in MANY years but now has a 3-year-old daughter that I NEED to get healthy for so I can be around to walk her down the aisle (when she is 30 something of course). I have been losing about 10 pounds a month so I know that at my current weight of 275 that I best not be taking this off any gnarly jumps or anything but I didn't want to buy a hefty bike suitable for my current weight and then spend more on a better bike for my lower weight, RIGHT?
@bikersedge4 жыл бұрын
Hey Phil. Thanks for the feedback. I can 10/10 recommend this big as a good all-purpose e-bike. It's stable, has plenty of travel yet isn't impossible to control. As a bonus, it's pretty tough and can hold up to some aggressive riding.

This bike did fly under the radar. I've been waiting for a review, thank you! My big concern is the chainstay length 😐
@bikersedge4 жыл бұрын
It is long. It makes the bike extra stable. Like I said if you lean the bike in the corners it does pretty well. I rode an XL so it’s a little more proportionate than on the smaller sizes though.
@L4J204 жыл бұрын
@@bikersedge That's my concern...I'm 5'5 and typically ride a small frame. So this may not be a good fit? 🤔

I’m not sure how it would feel to be honest. It might be worth trying to demo one. Almost all e bikes are going to have a long rear center, but most of them are still shorter than this one.
@RationalHuman-12 жыл бұрын
@@L4J20 agreed. I’m 6’4’ so those long chain stays totally work for me, but are probably too long for you, unless climbing is your main priority. You are probably better served on a bike with 27.5” wheels.

I bought my 2020 Trance 29er 3 this year from Bikers Edge, amazing service in a crazy year. I've touched the bike pictured, it reminds me of the Giant X0 paint job, looks great up close. XT here for the price is a winner, or go with the lower priced model Trance E, which I did! Giant has reacted to a wild supply chain year, doing all they can to produce well thought out bikes and not hype the marketing side, just deliver bikes. I've test ridden the lower model Trance this week, the motor is so smooth. If you're still in research mode on e bikes check the Euro YT channels, as those guys have gone full emtn bike happy -and they get free bikes.

@@bikersedge 2 ride update: Rode up Jennies to Mid Mtn/PCMR. Astonishing! Eco for two miles, I worked. Then went #3, semi Turbo, blew me away. It's not a motorcycle, you don't 'goose it' uphill to get to say 30 mph, you'll get maybe 12mph? So practice makes perfect as you have to help the cranks 'sense' your cadence. Downhill is hairy! 3.6 tires are great, but it crushes rocks, it's just not 'flicky'. Downhill takes 'faith', but I never washed out. It's fast! I can see big, exploring rides next spring, focus on big ups, but this bike is total fun. I can see doing any ski resort, this bike opens it up. Perhaps the future is 39lb frames, smaller battery/motor as the range is huge anyway, you're pedaling, getting a workout.

I have a question. If you were to choose between travel or tire size which one is more important. Example: 29” tire with 140mm of travel in front and 140mm in rear or 27.5” with 150mm front and rear.

I didn’t really ride it on the road at all other than around the parking lot. It has a motor in it so it’s going to be faster on the road than a normal MTB.
@d_shiznit78743 жыл бұрын
I have the E+3 and ride it on the roads to get to the trails near me (here because I like watching reviews of things I already own for whatever reason). It does the job, and gets you where you need to go, but if you get past the motor's speed limit, you really feel the weight. Off the road is where this bike gets fun. Keep the on-road sections short and you'll have a total blast.

I'm confused. I've watched a number of videos on this bike, and read a few reviews. The videos all pretty much rave about it. The written reviews, not so much. I had wanted the Specialized Turbo Levo Alloy but financing options on it are very limited so I'm ready to pull the trigger one one of these (the '3' model). The written reviews make it sound like it has a very narrow appeal and really is only good at climbing, is no fun on downhills, and no fun even just riding forest roads. I'm not sure what to believe.
