When it comes to giants do not use soldiers as sacrifice to save mutants. Rather, the other way around. The mutant can tank while the soldiers do the real damage.

I think they should have been weaker, but also much cheaper. The mutant is rather inflexible by being a melee unit, so it needs a lot of raw power to compensate. A very expensive unit also needs a lot of raw power to justify the cost. By stacking those two factors, the mutant would need a ridiculous amount of power to justify both the price and the melee property, but that amount of power could upset the balance. Rather than making them just stronger, if you make them say 1/3 as strong, but also 1/5 the price and upkeep, they could have been easier to balance. The story however hyped them up as the ultimate infected killers.

FYI giants and enemy mutants don’t scale on numbers in campaign. Just health(giants have 15k in nightmare and 20k in apocalypse) and possibly damage but I’m not sure

I'm not sure the mutants aren't more or less intended to be as he used them here, a quick mobile shock tower- with the boosts you get before getting them, it already twists a lot of the match-ups. I don't know what you could really do with them without making getting like two of them basically an instant win. Granted, I haven't actually used them, I rushed soldier buffs like he did, but went with defensive techs instead of the bonuses to the inn and chasing mutants.. though i guess I'm just one buy away from having them.

As someone who has unlocked mutants, I'm fairly certain they being used as intended and that is giggle factor. At 5 oil upkeep, you are far better with Thanatos or Titans. However, super soldiers + stone walls only need a couple wasps for support to be completely OP. As such, all of your oil can be used on mutants with no risk if you have certain tech unlocks.

@@dennisuerling899 yeah, how ridiculous the soldiers end up being is why i hadn't bothered to unlock the other units, i've just relied on the base level inn to let me get them some minor support. I think the idea is to have one bounce between defense points, to subvert the need for stacking thanatos or lucifers in both spots to thin numbers. It doesn't feel very practical though.

Mutants are only really good versus normal zombies, any special infected especially Chubbies and as you found out Giants are tough to kill.

Kibitz is 100% correct. They are not worth the price. That is, EXCEPT for the giggle factor. As such, I have zero regrets about unlocking them myself. Video games are about having fun and the mutant is certainly that.

Not really. The stuff that you think is pus is probably muscle and some sort of natural armour, like chitin kinda. I think somewhere in this campaign it said that the giants have super thick armour like skin so
