Vinny’s description of the heat reminds me of Prince’s Hot chicken in Nashville. When you get the “hot” chicken it’s just all heat and no real flavor. Vinny is a pro!

I'm with Vinny on this. Ghost peppers are the worst hot pepper due to being all heat and little flavor, both Naga and Bhuts alike. Carolina Reapers are hotter and have a better flavor profile. Hot sauces for the sake of being hot are lame.

I forget which pepper guy (might be Refining fire chili guy) created a heatless Habanero pepper. All the flavor but zero heat. I think that's great, because some chilies are absolutely delicious. Ghost Pepper is all heat same with most of the superhots other than the Reaper and its family.

I bought a bottle of Dave's Gourmet Ghost Pepper Sauce (scoville rating: 650,000), hottest sauce I've ever had. And I slowly started to build a tolerance to it bit by bit, till one day I got too cocky and put way too much on, I was lying on the couch for 30-45 mins in stomach pain. It wasn't the pain that I remember, but the awful awful taste, it tasted like ash and death. Whenever I look at the bottle I still remember how awful it tasted and have rarely had more since. It's what I think Ryan Davis said one time "You go far enough down a path, and either you get stronger or weaker. And I got weaker." Something like that from one of the bombcasts.

I've had a couple of ghost pepper sauces that I actually enjoyed for their flavor, granted I've never eaten the pepper straight. Red Robin had a ghost pepper burger for a minute that was really good and still pretty dang hot.
