I feel for Dan. He’s finally in the situation I’ve been in since the draft/FA. Walking into the season with no comp or rookie with Jones. THEY HAD TO GET A QB IN THE OFFSEASON AND DIDNT. Now your prize is a top 3 pick with MEDIOCRE QB PROSPECTS. It’s such bad management and you CANT keep the GM and HC bc now they’re not doing things for the Giants they’re doing things to keep their jobs.

Schoen underestimated the true values of Saquon & X. They were both homegrown talent & great locker room leaders. Also, they more than likely don't produce their current numbers with the Giants. However, we should be asking ourselves why not? Why hasn't Schoen put together a better team in THREE seasons?? These are bad indictments on the GM. I don't understand how people want him to select a QB & have an additional 2-3 years. Pure insanity.

Here's why Drew Lock played well. - The elephant in the room are the two turnovers. Correctable physical errors. More practice reps on screens and better ball security when busting for a first down from a collapsed pocket. I'll give Lock the same slack we give to Tyrone Tracy. Right now, I'm focusing on the talent Drew Lock displayed in this game. - Central to this analysis is the point, as you both granted, that Lock was thrown into this game with short notice and zero reps. - Drew Lock engineered touchdown drives in the first & fourth quarters. The first TD made a statement punctuated by a 28-yard run to the 1-yard line. The second TD was preceded by a pass to Nabers that neither DJ nor Devito are capable of making. The most important thing is Lock never quit and neither did the offense. Nabers, Theo and Tracy were fully engaged. - Lock involved Nabers early in the passing game. Connections with Theo & Co in the 2nd half moved the offense despite penalty interruptions. Multiple times, Lock overcame huge O-Line penalties to keep scoring drives alive. - Passing - Lock completed 21 of 32 passes for 178 yards. Include 4 dropped passes & he's 25 of 32. 25 of 32. - Four incompletions were physically caused by pass rush. - One incomplete pass connected but Slayton (I think) could only get one foot in. If you want to rant about the remaining two incompletions, knock yourself out. - And passing yardage, Dan. Beyond the dropped passes, how about several completions taken off the board by penalties? Changes Lock's YPP, does it not? Fact is that Lock successfully moved the offense to overcome a couple of otherwise drive-killing penalties. - Rushing - Lock led the team with 50+ rushing yards, We can agree the yards were scrambled, not designed. - Drew Lock and Tommy Devito are not in the same class of NFL quarterbacks, clearly. Lock exhibited a measure of control that had the offense functioning. If Daboll is smart, he'll continue with Lock as #1. Let's see what we have in house before tanking for a #1 draft pick. I'd rather we invest our draft capital bolstering the O-Line and D-Line and use FA capital on linebackers and secondary. - I have my doubts in Daboll. Zero confidence in Shane Bowen (Twelve weeks in the books and the secondary is still without an interception? How is that possible?) -I do not doubt Drew Lock's QB competence.

Excellent work men! Once again, palace intrigue is all we have to garner interest in this team. Who’s getting fired? When? Who’s getting drafted? Which round? Yadda, yadda, yadda. Not much intrigue when you’ve seen this story over and over. I just wanna see some good ball played by the team I root for. That’s how low it’s gotten. I know wins are out of the question. Just not keystone cops level bad. That’s too much to ask I guess.

Unable to comment football wise on the pod, due to apathy and total disgust. But totally agree on SOAD. 1 of the few favorites I haven’t seen live along with Rage Against the Machine. Lead singer Serj doesn’t like to tour as much as the rest of the band would like. They only play a few festivals a year. You guys will likely have to travel to see them. Would totally be worth it. With Thomas & Dexter out & Jones on the Vikings all of a sudden Slayton is the last Gettleman pick left. So after 3 years the roster went from bottom of the barrel and pretty much stayed @ the same level. So nothing really changed.

Perhaps drill into what the issues with the defensive calls … also remember that this is new scheme From my view I tend to see our very very young secondary making typical year one growing pains and tend to get picked on. 5 Coaches and 3 GMs in the past 10 years. While you can find fault with parts of all of them, the common denominator is front office and ownership. Too many poor hires, too much nepotism, too much leaning on what worked in the "good ole days". John Mara is a poor owner. Compare with their buddies, the Steelers: 3 coaches in the past 50+ years ... 2 seasons under .500 in the past 30 years. That's what you call a well run team.
@davemandaro2138Ай бұрын
IMO The ONLY option for change is to hand the keys to Belichick 😳
@jmazzella1Ай бұрын
Nick… seriously you’re too close to it. The culture is not rotten. The coaching staff has done a good job of attempting to reduce the playbook given the talent left on the team. A transition year for the QB big injuries again to key players has left the Giants with a lot of filler players.
@gabecicale1860Ай бұрын
Is there any evidence that Joe Schoen manages Daboll in any way regarding how he's performing his job? I've always been wary of their relationship being too friendly. At some point the GM has to hold the coach accountable for his job performance.

I really wanted to believe in the GM and coach but if you look at all the moves made and the product on the field it is really hard in my mind to bring these guys back. I was just starting to watch the Giants in the 70's and 2024 reminds me of those days sad to say. The Giants are the laughing stock of the NFL.
@scottejohnson83Ай бұрын
Since I don’t trust Schoen’s evaluations or any QBs in this year’s draft, I’m all in on picking up a kings ransom for our top 3 pick… add some actual talent in the trenches and secondary. Find a decent bridge QB in FA and see where the chips fall.
@JamesStoll-b4pАй бұрын
guys, need an episode realistically assessing the pieces of the roster worth building around and whether some of our best pieces should in any event be traded because, by the time the team could be competitive the players will no longer be as good as they are today - i. e., Dexter Lawrence; or should be traded or at least looked at as unreliable due to chronic injury - i.e., Andrew Thomas. As I look at the roster Eluemenor is the best lineman on the roster because Thomas is simply injured far too often. I think Dex should be traded for a 1 or 2 in the offseason because he may not be that effective in 2027 - the first possible time this team becomes competitive. Okereke is in the Lawrence camp. Banks is a bust in the making. Burns will likely be on the back nine in '27. There is nothing on offense to be excited about. Nabers is a disaster unless a great QB arrives here in '25 and hits the ground running. Is there such a QB in the draft? And without an o-line can a rookie QB be expected to hit the ground running. I think if Daboll and Schoen are here next year, 0-17 is the most likely outcome.
@michaelwillis9868Ай бұрын
Ok 1 football comment. I was just saying hire Belichick as operations consultant. Not sure he would be interested, but helping return the Giants to respectability should seem attractive to him.

neal was left tackle/gaurd in college daboll decided to play neal out of position by starting neal at right tackle instead of gaurd or back up left tackle .and hyatt isn't ass he just needed a qb to give him The ball and the qbs with the best connections with hyatt was tyrod Taylor and tommy devito them two qbs gave hyatt a chance Daniel jones didn't.devito is better than DJ btw. also daboll is the one calling stupid plays that give hyatt go routes and post all the time. Daboll should've gave hyatt intermediate and slant routes but chose to only give hyatt deep routes daboll doesn't know how to coach this type of wr personnel group he needs to leave, schoen drafted great pieces but daboll didn't know how to use them.also daboll was stupid for taking play calling from Kafka ,Kafka is more familiar with this type of speedy wr personnel remember Kafka worked with tyreek hill and mecole hardman in Kansas city.daboll isn't used to this type of personnel daboll worked with slow wr personnel in Buffalo this wr group and Kafka playbook isn't daboll style of offense,daboll needs to leave

Think the argument that we shouldn’t fire them because what if Mara picks someone worse is flawed. It’s the same as not drafting a new QB, as what if he is worse. Give them time and if they don’t have it move on.

how can you trust joe schoen/brian daboll to choose a franchise quarterback and build a system around him when they make hires like shane bowen, go in big and draft/acquire players for his system and then this is the result? you're gonna let them do that to the offense next? they've showed you exactly who they are with that hire and it doesn't get enough attention... everyone's like 'let them get their quarterback!! Would appreciate a genuine reply to this from somebody? I am so conflicted. I consider myself yknow some what ball knower and i really do believe daboll should stay. is it bad process to feel sympathetic to him dealing with bottom tier offensive line play and horrible quarterback after horrible quarterback? I really do believe he can be a good coach with his QB. and i admit he’s definitely not perfect, but then i ask who’s better that would want to be here? Joe schoen is a different conversation though lol. I can understand that part of it.

Christ stop saying this roster "if healthy" is good I've heard versions of that since Eli has played. There are ALWAYS a few good players either on the team or can be added in the off season. It. Hasn't. Mattered. That's a bullshit thing to say. It doesn't actually change the reality on the field -- for better or for worse -- it's just not a impactful evaluation for this team.
