Everyone harps on trading Leo, but that's a move you make 10/10 times. You already pay Dex and you weren't going to pay Leo. The picks allowed him to get Burns. The mistake Schoen made that is hurting them most is letting A'Shawn Robinson walk. The run defense was not noticeably different after Leo was traded, because A'Shawn was the 2nd best run stuffer in the NFL. Not only did they not re-sign him, but they didn't address the position at all besides trashcans and just expected 6th rounders from previous years to improve with very little signs they were up to the task. I was hoping that Riley would make the next step as he made some really nice plays in pre-season as a rookie, but he has been what you'd expect from a 6th rounder. Davidson has also been a liability outside a good game against Seattle. The meme about all the guys the Giants let walk and the talking heads (not you two fine gentleman, pillars of the community obviously) don't even mention the one who left the biggest hole on the D. McKinney wouldn't have the same INTs here because teams just run it down the Giants throats. I wanted them to re-sign him, but Schoen said from day 1 he puts less of a premium on S, so paying the highest FA deal to a S wasn't going to happen. He should get knocked for letting A'Shawn go, the other moves are 100% justifiable.
@selwynandrews7716Ай бұрын
I think undervaluing ya last line of defense in a passing league isn't a ringing endorsement of competence. I don't think any of those moves are justifiable honestly if you looking beneath the surface of it. They massively weakened the front and back end of the defense. It was a whole bunch of bad bets that all went bust.
@michaelwillis9868Ай бұрын
Additionally Burns and Thibs are both Liabilities against the run. Too similar type of players. Undersized, lack power. Unable to bull rush and set edge and difficulty block shedding. Have to run around Tackles leaving huge lanes for RB’s and QBs to run. Paying Burns elite level edge $ and getting average/below average production is hurting this team. If Burns was so great why would Panthers let him go for a 2nd rounder???? Especially a team looking to build and had a lot of cap?? I’d love to be wrong on this, but I’ve seen nothing special from Burns.

I definitely agree with Dan on the bridge QB point. I feel like having a "system" QB who is intelligent and has strong fundamentals is needed because you want this guy to be smart enough to teach the young QB things and also, you want the young QB to have to beat him based out the right reasons and not just because the starting QB is so fundamentally poor that the standard to start is lowered. I like those Andy Daltons, Brisettes, Joe Flaccos (probably too old now) and even Tyrod again. Something along those lines. Gardner Minshew too. Someone that requires the young QB to play sound enough to beat him out. I also agree I would try for Trevor Lawrence if given a chance. I would trade a first and more for him. I understand people who don't want to get him or feel that's too much though.

there is no shot DJ agreed to waive the guarantee not only because of the agent, but the NFLPA would not want Jones to agree to it. Jameis would be my favorite bridge QB if only because the games are ALWAYS entertaining. Maybe it would be more torture than fun when its the Giants hes throwing INTs for and not NO/Cle but I'm willing to give him a chance with our WRs.
@didgruntleddansnyderfanАй бұрын
I agree on Jameis. Not necessarily because he'd be great on the field, but because he'd be great in the locker room. And he is great. it's just that he's also, you know, horrendous at the same time. So you're gonna get that part too. He's basically Kirk Cousins but with even wilder swings, and usually in the same game. Plus he's a hilarious holy man.

@didgruntleddansnyderfanАй бұрын
True. But the same guy who hired those two, and Gettleman, Judge, Shurmur and Macadoo, will be hiring their replacements. What is your level of trust that he'd make the right hires this time? Firing Daboll and Schoen might just be a futile gesture without a more profound change. Maybe you can't force Mara to sell, but surely you can force him into a side office and lock the door so you can find a real team president to make decisions?
@cooldude7821Ай бұрын
Yep. Hire an outside agency like the Jets. And I can't believe I'm looking at the Jets for inspiration. You know $h!+ is bad. But hire someone who is qualified outside the organization to find a GM & maybe we'll have more confidence in the process.
@analysis1957Ай бұрын
Watching the Giants play the last two years the two words that come to my mind are undiscipline and unprepared. That is an indictment on the head coach I am sorry to say as I really wanted Dabol to succeed.
@didgruntleddansnyderfanАй бұрын
I never thought he stood a chance with that QB and in that organization, and he def overachieved in 2022. And maybe I'm biased as a Skins fan, but I think dysfunction like this comes from the top, not the head coach. Somehow you need to elbow John Mara aside and get a proper football person running your team.

@@michaelwillis9868 I'll just remind you what happened with Ereck Flowers. Giants fans were saying the same things about him, and he went to the pro bowl one year after going to Washington. A lot of this is bad coaching, closedmindedness and misevaluation. If I were you I'd at least try Neil at guard first. You did spend a first round pick on the man, and you have a tendency now of leaking high draft picks to division rivals for nothing in return. But hey, I'm a Redskins fan and we could use reinfocements on the line. Why am I complaining?
@michaelwillis9868Ай бұрын
@ supposedly we brought in the Oline Guru from the Raiders this year. Oline is still horrible. Additionally on Neal majority of fans hate the guy after he criticized the fans calling them fair weather fans and said all of us basically don’t know anything calling them all burger flipper. Lashing out at fans because the team got booed isn’t the best idea. I know this. He sucks at blocking and I know bad football when I see it. Parsons completely embarrassed him. Neal can’t anchor keeps his ass way up in the air, hunches over and can’t move laterally. He will get destroyed by big DT’s. Neal is just one of the issues. JMS not progressing. Missed on every lineman Schoen has drafted. Have spent the most capital on Oline in NFL and have the worst line. The team is terrible..a total mess. If you are looking to get JD killed feel free to do us a favor and take him. GM in Washington did an amazing job and you have your franchise QB. Congrats. Must be nice to have competent management.

The problem for Mara is that he fires coaches after two years and it's gonna be very hard to get good talent to come. If Dabbol is not the guy, it will be even clearer next year and you won't have the same questions about turnover of coaches.
@analysis1957Ай бұрын
One good thing currently sitting 3rd is the two teams ahead of the Giants (Jacksonville and Las Vegas) have to play each other so one of them will have 3 wins unless there is a tie. Watching the top five worst teams this weekend they played fairly well except for the Giants so we got a chance. Given the latest injuries it is hard to see where another win is coming from although I am worried about the Eagles game if they have everything locked up. Eagles letting us win the last game would put a cherry on this sh*t show season.

Simply, I would fire Dabelbfir all the reasons presented by Dan and Nick in this cast. As far as Scheon is concerned he made 2 serious mistakes concerning Saquon and DJ. DJ...Dabol did design schemes that made DJ succeed. However Schoen should have know better and not resign DJ, much less for this $ amount. Saquon as we can this this year is a topv3 RB, however behind a very poor Giant OL he was useless and should have never had the franchise tag place on him in the first olace. Even though the NFL has moved away from the significance of the RB, it seems RB's have made a contact. Unfortunately 2022 was fools gold. Having said this, I would give Schoen one more year in hopes he hires a proven HC. Thank boys for the great content!!
@GeekazonMerchHubАй бұрын
My beef with Schoen is the O-line. His main job IMO was to fix this damn line and what did he do? Whiffed on every single O-line drafted, never sign a legitimate swing tackle and still lack depth across the line. And here we are, the O-line is dogshit again.
@cooldude7821Ай бұрын
The Oline was average B4 AT went down. Having Neal as your swing tackle was the downfall this year.
@GeekazonMerchHubАй бұрын
@cooldude7821 it was average but Thomas wasn't a Schoen pick. Runyan is an average guard, JMS has been looking bad and GVR is a one year guy that is probably on the decline. The only great pick up was Eluemunor but regardless, he had to pay 3 proven players because all of his draft picks have been terrible. And again, no decent swing tackle so when Thomas went down the season was basically over

Gentlemen, Schoen got caught between false hope after 22 and 2 major contracts coming due. Certainly, it is easy to look back and say he should not have signed DJ, Barkley was 50/50. I remember telling a fellow Giant fan that we were playing with fools gold. I would not have resigned DJ, but I'm not sure about Barkley, even up to now. I am not unhappy at all that we let Barkley walk( part of the blame falls with Saquon cause a very good contract was offered and he turned down) The rebuild should have been a full one after 22. This way, Schoen would have had his own QB, and he could have kept X. So, I believe Schoen has made some mistakes, but I think he should stay. Dabol should be fired for all the reasons you have mentioned over the last few shows. Oh trade for Lawrence
