Getting rid of great players/leaders and replacing them with draft picks is not a recipe for success. You keep good players and build depth through drafting BPA and you fill remaining holes through free agency. Meaning you KEEP Saquon and draft Tracy. You KEEP McKinney and draft Nubin. If you’re keeping Daniel Jones who EVERYONE was unsure of, you draft a QB. You KEEP Leonard Williams and draft a DT. That’s how you build depth. As far as Slayton goes, he doesn’t fall into the category of great player and IS the depth piece. There’s benefit there but Slayton deserves to go to a better team at this point.

Your best podcasts are when you do these breakdowns. Something Alex said about adding experience, especially when it comes to O line and defensive is crucial. Regardless of who the GM is next season, at least we will have cap space to work with. Speaking of, firing Daboll and keeping Schoen is a bad idea. Either both both go or they both stay. We already know how keeping a GM and firing a coach usually works out.
@richmulv7 күн бұрын
Daboll is the problem. He was unable to get along with Wink Martindale the first warning sign and he undermined his offensive coordinator Mike Kafka who made good play calls in the season they made the playoffs with DJ. Daboll's play calling was disastrous and he stole the play calling from Kafka. Schoen has drafted adequately. He is a bright guy and is capable of turning things around. A good choice for HC would be Joe Brady currently OC with the Bills. BTW it was Josh Allen who made Daboll look good not Daboll making Josh Allen look good.
@boki16936 күн бұрын
How can you say Schoen has drafter adequately? He had drafted horribly. He has had 3 years "to turn it around" and our roster is way worse than when he took over. Both need to go.
@JohnFerraro-l9b5 күн бұрын
Daboll and Schoen are both living off the coat tails of Buffalos unicorn pick of Josh Allan. Daboll had his chance to be a QB whisperer with Jones, Lock and DeVito. I’m not saying any of them are any good but did they get measurably better under the whisperer. Not to mention neither one of them chose to whisper to Nix, Penix or McCarthy.

The Giants have been criticized for letting good players walk in past offseasons only to see them shine elsewhere. It seems to me that letting Slayton walk would just be another example of this. As far as Schoen goes, since the second half of 22 we are 2-5-1, 6-11 and probably 2-15. This in the third year 9f a “rebuild”. He doubled and tripled down on Jones. He took us into 24 with a quarterback room that was an absolute joke. Jones, (a year after an ACL tear)Lock, and DeVito, and now Boyle. He preaches rebuild while at the same time tries to win now by wasting draft capital and money on guys like Burns and the Las VEGAS tight end whose name I have already forgotten. W something (lol). Ok I have to say this because the Ojulari defense is so wrong. The guys has not played a full season and sucks against the run. The idea of him being a couple big plays for cheap is a failure. We constantly talk about depth yet you want our depth to be something that constantly breaks and when we actually need depth he isn't available. So then we are either hunting the streets again or starting guys off the practice squad. Starters can be the occasional big play, depth needs to be consistently reliable. I would keep Simmons and use him as a backup edge before bringing back Ojulari because he will be on the field. Plus his use as the slot shows he does more against the run. Neither is a great option but when you're talking depth availability is much more then 2 sacks in 1 game then a trip to the ir for the next 6. KTs option I agree we keep and get an actual DC who can actually use him. Hell hes big enough to use him as DE next to Lawrence on the regular and find a solid lb to replace him.
