He's not a T in the NFL, I didn't even want Neal. I wanted Cross, because he has issues with coordination and balance. That was all over his college tape too, I compared him to Ereck Flowers from the get. He is not good in space at all, his instincts are to reach, for such a big human, it seems like he's afraid of people getting to his body.

This is an underrated signing. The Burns signing gets all the glamor, but this is HUGE(pun intended). If, by some miracle, Neal improves, then we've got our swing Tackle here. If Neal sucks, we've got a serviceable tackle with this dude, and we can try Neal at guard. Joe Schoen still has my trust. He came into a dysfunctional situation. I give him more leeway than Daboll.
@cooldude78217 ай бұрын
Maybe you should wait to at least see some of these guys in a preseason game before you start patting Schoen on the back.
@jmac246117 ай бұрын
He’s easily a top 3 lineman on this team, and probably 2. Let’s say Neal improves massively - would they start Eluemunor at guard??? Or if Eluemunor beats out Neal, would they start Neal at guard? And wonder if it would be LG or RG since Runyan is able to play both (but better at LG) I think they have more options, but still a TON of uncertainty. Eluemunor at least gives them a higher floor at RT.

@kentakagi61937 ай бұрын
It would be cool if you did some all time great breakdowns... Maybe Joe Thomas???
@mattagne7387 ай бұрын
I completely understand the FO mentality on wanting to keep Neal at RT. That being said, I believe he can still be a very good OG if they will just pull the trigger. Eluemunor can be looked at as just a swing tackle, which is valuable by the way. But the more you watch his film the more you start to think we should just immediately start him at RT and move Neal now. Runyan can play either guard spot so I think moving Neal now would not only improve our OL but give us enough time to evaluate Neal as a guard. I would personally love to see Neal play next to Thomas. But I think a move to left or right guard now is best for all involved.
@lucasmartinez57037 ай бұрын
Him being a good guard isn't a given either.
@mattagne7387 ай бұрын
@lucasmartinez5703 Clearly not but if the believe the know he's not a good tackle than trying to salvage him as a guard is only logical. Had we done that with Flowers years ago we would have had an above average guard. Instead we had nothing. We should not repeat history.
@lucasmartinez57037 ай бұрын
Fair. I just don't think we'll see much of a difference. And personally I think his size will be an issue at guard.
@mattagne7387 ай бұрын
@lucasmartinez5703 But you HAVE to investigate. If he still sux you're in the same boat. If not, you may have found a long term answer at guard.

Hey Bobby, what do you think was the main reason for Eluemenor allowing 3 sacks and 4 hurries to (well out of his prime) Khalil Mack this past year Week 4? It seemed to me like he was mostly just getting washed around the edge because of the lack of lateral quickness. Much better than Evan Neal just falling over but still could be a disaster at times.
