Agree 100%. Willie is baseball’s GOAT. He is also, at 92, baseball’s oldest living Hall of Famer. Willie is also the only man in MLB history to hit a home run in every inning from 1 to 16.

As a Giants fan since 1966 I was fortunate to see him in center field at Candlestick. One can only wonder how many homeruns he would have hit if he wasn't playing in that cold, windy park. God Bless Willie Mays.

Such a very very humble human being.Someone who gives his shirt/suit off to help some one else. The players and rookies of today could learn a lot from him. Now on the next tribute of any player, turn the beep in music off so we can hear them speak.Great Video,Go Giants.⚾🌏✌

You know you’re special when you have 10 year olds, 25 year olds, 80 year olds and oh, the President of the United States in awe just being in your presence. The fact that Willie is 100% humble and oblivious to his status is even more remarkable than anything he did on the field. 🐐

Back in the mid sixties the Giants outfield had three Willie's. Willie Mays, Willie McCovey, and Willie Kirkland. They gave the other teams the Willies.

The first game I saw as a kid in San Mateo was in 1960 against the Pirates in their championship year against Vinegar Bend Mizzell. The starting outfield for the Giants was the three Willies. Pirates rallied from behind when the Giant middle infielders, Eddie Bressoud and Joe Amalfitano made errors in the same inning. Bressoud was also thrown out at the plate one inning. When Danny Murtaugh came out to yank Mizzell for Elroy Face, my 8 year old self stood up in my ground level seat under the overhang behind Giants dugout and shouted multiple times, "Keep him in. You chicken, keep him in." It reverberated off the overhang and the small nighttime crowd (Candlestick already had a reputation for being freezing at night because the heating system in the concrete under the seats never worked) in the ground level seats all heard it. The lower deck fans all turned to me and laughed. Priceless memories of a "Willies" night at my first game at Candlestick. For a while, I thought every outfielder was named Willie.

I'm sad to hear of the passing of Giant's great Willie Mays. He was my childhood baseball hero growing up in the mid 1960s and enjoyed watching him play at the Stick for many years. Willie was a Giants legend and was admired by baseball fans worldwide. He's the best ballplayer to ever play the game. "Say Hey" one last time Willie. Rest in peace and thanks for the great memories.💔

Willie Mays came to Puerto Rico to play winter ball for the 1954-55 season after the Giants won the World Series, thanks to a special arrangement between Pedrín Zorrilla, who was the owner of the Santurce Cangrejeros (Crabbers), and the Giants management that allowed Mays to play sporadically. The team also had Roberto Clemente playing LF and Bob Thurman in RF. Willie amassed enough plate appearances to qualify for the batting crown, which he won with a .395 average. Then the Cangrejeros represented the island in the Caribbean Series played in Venezuela and won the tournament with Willie hitting .440. Rest In Peace, Willie Mays. Blessings from San Juan 🇵🇷.

Ode to Sir Willie Mays spelling out his name: "Willie Mays, SIR to all of us. I, like many looked up to you with pride. Love you immensely for the road you paved for us of a brown hue. Lasting memories are going to be our tapestry of you. "I so admire Sir Mays" are utterances in many a head now and beyond. Excellence in being is what you are with a resounding AMEN. May your family turn to god for inner strength. Anything is possible as God has shown you. Your breath of sustainable achievements will be forever lasting. So Sir, I write this to bid you farewell to enjoy eternal rest."
