Nice! I used Gibraltar components to build a dual keyboard rack last year. Very very sturdy. It breaks down and assembles quickly. I am going to be adding another board so I'll be modifying mine a bit... Thanks guys!
@stargazer5206 жыл бұрын
How does something like this break down and assemble quickly? I'd love something like Ed's, only with both tiers being fully adjustable in height, depth, and tilt (like his 2nd tier). But I'd like something simpler than this. Is it possible with Gibraltar hardware? Can't get an answer from Gibraltar.

Funny how we often have the same issues yet some never get addressed! For years it was not being able to get the better sounds in smaller, more compact keyboard. For ex. you had to buy the behemoth heavy keyboard to get the best piano sounds. With keyboard stands it was trying to get 3 boards up there without big gaps between the keyboards making the lowest keyboard at barely thigh level while the top board was at shoulder level. I have tried everything and only the Standtastic was reasonable. This new stuff here is encouraging and I really dig the side arms as that could possibly put a rack unit or small keyboard like a Korg MicroStation on it. I'd love to see a stand that could be modified so that you could have the 3 keys in front if you wanted or have 2 keys in front and one off to one side (taking the place of a second keyboard stand on the side) that could still hold a modest sized keyboard like a Roland JP8000 and be mountable to come off the left or right side of the stand. This way you can still be seen (lol) and have piano and organ in front then synth off to one side with all 3 keyboards on one stand! Oh, and make all the tiers have an angle feature as some people like the keys slanted upwards! 2 IN THE FRONT...ONE ON THE SIDE!

I live in Toronto, Canada. Today I went to Long & McQuade, and asked them to give me a quotation, based on the full parts list in the info above. The price for the Rack frame is $1425.81 + 13% tax. The price for the accessory add on is, $289.95 + 13% tax. The total for the complete set $1715.76 + 13% tax. The prices are in Canadian Dollars. The rack is great looking, but come on for God's sake, almost $2000 for a three tier rack? I don't think it worth it, unless you have tones of $$$.

Well, Gibraltar hardware its expensive. But it is for a reason. Never seen a Gibraltar hardware piece wobble or break out of the blue ...like On-stage or Ultimate hardware.
@SyntheticFuture5 жыл бұрын
@@AudioReplica2023 will not deny that, but for a key player this is utter overkill. Look at the rigs of Coen Janssen and Jordan Rudess. Those are stands that can do a lot more for the money than this rigged beast.
@AudioReplica20235 жыл бұрын
@@SyntheticFuture Yeah but this stand is more for touring key players than nothing. Obviously I won't be carrying around a keyboard stand that weights more than my keyboard rig ..thats crazy. And by the way Rudess stand its customized. Thats for sure youll never see him carrying it around. Most of key players around won't need something like that and anyways ...seems like he's the only keyboard player who have got shitty stands in his life time. I got Z style stand for just $60 on amazon and its sturdy enough to hold a 88keys motif no problems at all. And the second tier cost almost the same ...so right there thats way less than half on the price for that one. If he really play the keys leaning on them and pushing the keys so hard like he was doing here...then forget about the stand and save for your next keyboard cuz thats for sure he gonna need it. lol
@SyntheticFuture5 жыл бұрын
@@AudioReplica2023 yeah I felt a bit sad when he put his full weight on the keys =l That's not how you play... I hope XD The one thing I do like about this rig that I will borrow for inspiration is how little overlap er is between the keyboards. That is nice. Most tiered stands make it really hard to see and reach all the knobs on the lower tiers. May I ask what stand you have?

"He's a keyboard player around town." Am I seriously the only one who noticed Ed Diaz face when he said that? That's some bullshit. they should have rerecorded it. Can you say "over-engineered".....??! What convoluted way can we find to make another use for all this shiney scaffolding we manufacture specifically for drum racks and extract more $$$ from people..... Don't get me wrong, I'm all for having "custom built" gear, as no two people are the same. I will also concede that it looks good and does appear incredibly stable and solid too.... but then it should, its a drum rack ;-) I'm a big fan of Ed Diaz from his other vids and Roland demos..... But... Ed... C'mon, really....??! That bottom keyboard is so low, it must kill your wrists, unless you play it seated ! But even standing, you can hardly reach the top keyboard without fully outstretched arms and leaning forward - at which point, your stomach is resting on the bottom keys (and I dont mean any offence Ed, I am of very similar build to you, I would certainly have that problem myself !) What I'd really like to see is a video of Ed actually playing/performing with this rig for an hour or so at a live gig - along with the setup and teardown too (not just being *told* that its really easy/small/quick). Whilst it looks sexy, to me, the whole thing appears unergonomic and really uncomfortable to play on..... Almost as if the build is only "custom" within the confines of what you can make a drum rack do - and that's what Gibralter then presented to Ed and said "say some really good things about this that we've cobbled together...!") If Gibralter were serious about getting into the keyboard stand market, perhaps you should research/design/manufacture some suitable *specific* components, instead of attempting to just recycle the existing drum product catalogue - at least then, some people might be able to justify the price tag.
