HEY YODA! Happy new musical year my friend. Thanks for the shout out and kind words. Yeah, the 335 is quite a wonderful instrument. Did I ever tell you how I came to acquire this beast? Well, back in 2015 I purchased a Gibson Midtown Custom. I loved it. It was kind of like getting a budget version of a 335. After 5 years, As it turned out, there was a neck issue that became kind of a problem. I took the axe to my repair man and he told me to contact Gibson about the issue since I was the original owner. Now....here's where instrument registration come in to play. Gibson asked me to ship the instrument to them in Nashville along with a copy of my sales receipt. Upon inspection of the guitar they informed me that they stand behind their product and that they would replace the instrument. Much to my surprise they sent the 335 to me!!!!!!! They could have sent a 339 (cheaper) but they went full bore on the replacement. It didn't matter what color they sent......I was totally blown away by the way Gibson took care of me. Yes, there is a big price difference between a Midtown and a 335. So...........when you have a company that stands behind their stuff like Gibson does, you trust them and stick with them. That's my experience with the customer service and dedication to excellence from Gibson. ......whew.....long story but very true. So, have a wonderful-musical 2024 my friend. Always remember.................PLAY WITH PASSION!!!!!!!!

Yes, learning covers and licks for others is great. I always like to think about how Miles Davis helped other musicians. He didn't want them to be like another musician. he wanted them to be themselves. He was capable of pulling the best bits of talent out of so many musicians. It was amazing. Frank Zappa was like that too. I think that they were right. Do your own thing and excel within your own soul! Be safe my friend. peace.

Great playing Jake! This is the first time I have seen your videos. Awesome! Glad to hear that Gibson stands behind their products. I just bought a 60's Cherry ES335. I am loving it! I mated it to a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe IV and they sound very good together. I suspect as the amp burns in, it will sound even better. Why did it take me so long to buy this guitar? This thing rocks! I have been playing Strats for a long time but now. I will still keep my Strat but the Gibson is now my go to guitar. Absolutely love it. It does everything from Rock, Jazz, Country, you name it. Anyway, great video. Thank you for doing it.

I grew up 4 streets away from the original Kalamazoo Gibson factory. I regret that I never took a factory tour during all of my time in Kalamazoo. The Beatles, Stones and many others went through the tour. But, in the meantime, please keep those guitar strings hot! play, play play. and above all.......PLAY WITH PASSION!!!! peace. demo: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kHPUi4F8ir55nJI

Hi Robert. I do love this guitar. i had purchased a Midtown Classic back in 2015 and over time the neck developed a back bow that was not repairable. I had taken the instrument to my local repair man and he suggested that I contact Gibson regarding the issue. Since I was the original owner and I had all of my paper work from the purchase there was no problem with Gibson. I was blown away when I was informed about the replacement. i think it's important for companies to stand behind their products. Gibson does. I think the new management is superb. In the past I have run across companies that do not take care of their customers. i never buy anything from those companies, at least not anything from those that have burned me. But, in Gibson's case they are a company that's going to regain the top notch reputation that was created a long time ago. Some people like to bash Gibson for knucklehead stuff. Hey, even Rolls Royce has a repair and warranty group. No one is perfect but when it comes to backing up a product the best thing a company can do is to stand behind what they produce. In the meantime, I hope that you are producing good music of your own. Keep rocking my friend. peace.

Hi, dear Jake! How are you, brother? Last time I can't see the too much. I know, you are a busy man, with a lot of work, but you are looking good, and your playing is much better than it was in summer. Nice to see you rockin on! Yeah, this is THE Gibson. I was playing on this one, 1972 it was, I think.. But its SO MUCH EXPENSIVE - its 4000-5000 $ and people are not "running to give it away". Just like in 2016 my son was born, I sold all my guitars, only the 5 the best ones was left. But my shock wasn't long, because I was afraid to perform with 3000$ Strat and 2500$ XTONE CUSTOM. After some problems, I began to look for the cheap price working horse for the "violence" gigs. I bought my Washburn for 100$ and "BTW" Mexican 2004 strat without no colour and finish. All that axe was grinded trough the wood. And even if it wasn't yet modified in 2006, that Fender had an uforgettable sustain. After this pare I bought, I said STOP myself. Those guitars are good for you - stay with them. You can trust them. And just play some more. The voice is me. After your advice just to play with passion, I became very popular in YT,. but after you told me, that my Mex is ok too, and all the crisis of rosewood - I have no ability to make experiments. Strat and Floyd Rose Washburn with American Standard Strat and ESP XTONE PC1V are make me all my need..There I stopped. 2 strats is awesome, I think, its not the problem.;-) So, if you will once find that one for free, remember me please. I'll be there! For now I can only to be glad for you! You know, I am not envy to nobody. You are happy - I am happy to.:-) My mom allways said, I am too much "good", but it sounds great, but I don't think, I will buy it. New Gibson's are great, but their price makes me think, maybe in this level better will be Rickenbacker 620. My dream... See you, Jake! Do some more videos, to see you once a month;-))>?? Your brother in rock, Zigfrid

Hello my friend, thank you for visiting my channel. yeah, the GROVERS are great. I was fortunate to get this 335. It was a warranty replacement for a Gibson Midtown that had a neck issue. GIBSON stands behind their products. Never a worry when you buy a new Gibson guitar. Many Gibson guitars turn into heirlooms over time. That isn't going to happen with an Indonesian guitar. Of course, everyone has different needs for their musical choices. No disrespect to imported guitars. On the other hand....what would a '64 Strat cost vs an imported copy from the same time? One guitar is a long term keeper, the other is not. This doesn't mean that an import can't be the source of great music and productivity. Prince used a, Tokai ,copy of a Telecaster. Worked out great for him. So, I suppose that the bottom line is to pick up the guitar of your choice and play! peace.

Hi CJ, thanks for checking out my channel. YES, it does have MHS pickups. I do like them a lot. I don't think they've used the MHS in a lot of other guitars. I'm not a pickup specialist so I don't really know all the different pickup options Gibson offers. I think that these are a bit different than the Burst Buckers etc. But...wow...what a great sound. They easily go from clean to nasty in a blink of an eye. haha. This gives everyone a wide variety of sounds in between all of that. Also, this isn't a heavy guitar. the balance is perfect. No neck dive or weirdness in the feel. Also, the neck and fingerboard are like heaven. Gibson plecks their instruments so the setup was the best I have ever had...right out of the box! So, regardless of what you decide to do, PLEASE BE SAFE. The world needs musicians! peace.

Both get you there and both are great to drive. I happen to like a lot of different instruments. It's kind of like good therapy to pick up a guitar and play. But, regardless of everything, I think that you are on the right musical road. By all means check out both instruments. a 335 is larger in size than a Les Paul. Sometimes that's factor to people.
