Explorer hands down. I just bought a 58 Gibson custom in korina. They cut through the mix and have a sort of compression about them that I love.

i'm getting that Explorer tomorrow. Update: I got the Explorer. That guitar has a lot warmer and thicker tone IRL than I expected. I like it. It will be great for double tracking.

Your videos are amazing! It annoys me when people compare guitars and play something completely different on each. You can really hear the subtle differences in your videos! Excellent job!!

It’s odd, but I think I prefer the Explorer in all situations. I expected the LP to sound better lol. Guess I know which one I’ll be getting now! Also, your vids have come a long way man.

That Les Paul surprised me-it's got a wider tone that sounds sooooo hot. Not that the Explorer didn't, but damn.

I love them both, but I wouldn't trade my 1979 Gibson Explorer E2 for anything.

I noticed the bridge pickup spacing is different. The bridge pickup on the explorer is slightly further away from the bridge than the lp. Makes for a very minute difference in tone. I think the lp sounded better, specially on the bridge pickup.

Explorer tighter. I’m sold👍

Is the lower neck ( 12th fret area and below ) narrower than Les Paul ??

Les Paul Reign! Explorer is Awesome like all gibson guitars, But Les Paul has a unique tone, very hot and powerful

Hell, it’s hard to say. I guess it just depends on the day. I think the explorer sounds tighter and a little less “airey” than the Les Paul. It’s a toss up.

O! Man! Thank you! At the end of the video, the most correct words in relation to buying a guitar! What you need is to go to the store and try it out! But! Very important! Sometimes you really like the look of a guitar; your idol plays it! But it doesn't suit you! Only after trying it you realize that you need another guitar!

Les paul ...es una aplanadora para mi suena mucho mejor y el amplificador me quedo con el Friedman. Buena comparación, cada sonido y mic .

I just got an Explorerbird. The guy in the shop played a SG, Les Paul standard too but the Explorer sounded way ahead to my ears!

Explorer sounds more balanced. Probably, you were adjusting amps for LP after explorer? From my experience LP could be a pain in ass to set in metal mix because it just takes all the space :) What're your thoughts? Is explorer more mix-friendly?

No adjusting was done from guitar to guitar. Cheers -Ryan

Ryan, out of curiosity: what's the name of the amp that sits on top of ENGL at 2:20?

Hughes & Kettner TriAmp Mk II. Great amp! Cheers -Ryan

Theres really not much in it between them tonally. If you pay for an lp strictly for the tone (lets face it its for the looks) youd be happy w an explorer. I like them as much as lps but im opinionated and prefer single coil lps to their hb equivalents. And for hb tones i like the explorer more. I think its got a similar tone as an lp but w a lil more midrange because no maple top. You can get a used explorer for the same money as a new sg which cant be said for an lp. You can get one thats been abused and repaired for that money but no one wants that.

Difference in cost?
@Crypticmaskguitar9 ай бұрын
Will differ depending what part of the world you are in… best thing to do is go to your website of choice for guitars and look up the prices for yourself. Will be more accurate than me telling you the difference in price in Canada. Cheers -Ryan
