Great video and nice playing. Did I see some DADGAD playing? You hit the nail on the head when you mentioned the combination of the spruce's brightness and the mahogany's warmth. Don't forget Jimmy Page played one of these, most notably on "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You". When I heard that, I had to have one! You're a living treasure!

True, I have both. got to say I prefer my 2024 D18 Standard over both. And I'll throw in I even own a 2023 Hummingbird Original. But I still, really like the D18...

Great video! Love these guitars. Which is a bit weird, because I am not a Gibson fan at all. And not a Dreadnought fan. And certainly not a sunburst fan. But put it all together and I love it! And although I feel an urge to tie your hands behind your back when you speak, it’s a very informative video. Thanks!

Maybe make a video of the full, Custom Shop Historic Collection, and the differences, which one is best for fingerpicking, strumming, which one is best for which gengre I mainly play with plectrum strumming/picking, rock songs (Eddie Vedder, Corey Taylor, Beatles, Johnny Cash, LED Zeppelin, CCR, Guns N Roses,...) and sometimes blues Which guitar would you recommend to me for this, I would prefer to test them all, but in Belgium they are often only made to order and unfortunately cannot be tested

I have a 2020 j-45 I bought new. I love the shorter scale length. It is more comfortable than the longer scale length of my hd-28 or d-35 martins. It has become my main giging guitar since I bought it. The action was better off the rack than the martins. I had to have a setup on both martins to get them where I wanted. Now I really enjoy playing either. They all are different in their own way. I think martin has really hit the nail on the head with the new super D to complete with the Gibson j-200. Geat picking also.

D28 is my pick. Longer scale length. Higher pressure on the top. It pushes more volume. It is the tone Imprefer.

Love the J45 50's as I have that same guitar. But I simply do not care for the pickups. Just kills the tone of the guitar and its dynamic range. Much prefer to mic the J45 as well as any acoustic if that is an option

That piezo pickup sound was atrocious. Don´t understand why they put those on professional guitars. It never sounds good.

Imagine how much better new J-45s would sound if Gibson stopped smothering them in that awful lacquer they use! I stripped the neck and body of my 2005 Historic Series and refinished with OSMO, and the guitar is finally amazing.

Gibson’s values are rooted in their history. As a brand, that’s what’s important to them, which is fine. Their choice to avoid too much innovation is a decision they make to maintain tradition and stay true to what made them what they are today. It won’t garner too many new fans but it will retain long time fans. That’s what they want, let them do what they want. The industry is still better with them involved.
