Inspired by the historic Gibson EB-0, the LP Junior Tribute DC bass also includes modern refinements like a monstrous BassBucker humbucker with coil tap.
The Les Paul Junior Tribute DC Bass is a tribute to the historic Gibson EB-0 bass from the late '50s, but with modern features. Not just for smaller players, the short scale length is actually chosen by many for its strong fundamental tone and sits perfectly in a track when recording. The mahogany double cutaway body and mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard balances perfectly when playing either sitting or strapped on. It's equipped with a single expanded range LP BassBucker pickup with single volume and tone controls for simplicity. The volume pot has a push-pull feature to coil tap the pickup scooping the mids for further tone shaping possibilities.

Another good Video guys 👍 The Gibson Les Paul Jr. DC Tribute bass is surprisingly ( a pleasant one ) good sounding bass , I have seen a few videos of this bass, ( Jaime Lewis recently did a good review of it ) & it's a great sounding bass . I recently ( this week ) pulled the Trigger & bought a Black 2022 Gibson SG Standard bass, I wanted to add a short scale bass to my collection , Chris video & your shortie video on the SG Bass sold me on it, my local Long McQuade music store in Vancouver BC had just received one so I took it for a spin & ended up taking it home, it's a blast to play, and in terms of quality control it was good & the bass was ready to play right out of the box & the overall construction & assembly were top notch on this bass, the only thing I has to do was a quarter turn on the truss rod, I think Gibsons Quality control has gotten more consistent in recent years in my opinion ..... at least in regard to the Gibson basses I have played, anyway thanks guys I love you videos & my apologies for going on about the SG Bass in a Les Paul Jr. DC Tribute video ... I thought I would express my opinion on Gibson Quality control & my recent experience. 😀👍

I absolutely love mine, and I wanted to share that this bass does fit inside a MONO brand electric guitar-sized gig bag, which is extremely solid if you want a better case. The satin finish is so nice, I never want to put it down. I replaced the stock bridge with a Hipshot (took 15 minutes at most), and added some foam weather stripping under the pickup to keep the cover from moving around. Yes, you can pay less and still get a nice instrument. The Sterling by Musicman basses seem like an excellent value, it’s just not the sound I personally want to hear. I loved the sound and feel of this Gibson, and after researching basses for two years to find the right one, this Gibson is 1000% worth it to me.

Point of clarification - I had meant to say that more and more basses being made over in various Asian countries are really nice these days, so being made in USA doesn't mean anything in and of itself if the quality isn't appreciably better than an import counterpart.

@@darrylmoore127 It's far from a one-trick pony; I played one in store, and using your hand placement and the tone knob you can go from a Beatles tone to Led Zeppelin, Kiss, Van Halen and everything in between. It is a lot like a P-bass in that regard. Personally I'm waiting to see what happens on the used market, I feel like $1k is a bit much for terrible 1950s bridge design, no volute on the headstock, oh and it's not a thunderbird pickup, it's basically the humbucker version of a 4-pole bronco pickup. But it's a great bass for $500-600 imo.

@@davedixon2167 I recently got the American Performer Mustang (in Aubergine 🤑) and I am madly in love with it. That little vintage style pickup is amazing. The JMJ became a lot more tempting. It's really nice, but I feel that's because it's already been completely modded. Not a bad thing. I really would like another Mustang and it's between the JMJ or a Squier that I'll gut. Maybe I should just grab the G&L version, since it has a totally different pickup. Anyway, long scale player here, but I think everyone needs a 'Stang. Most fun bass, imho.

I LOVE these basses they sound so good and like a P-Bass but so much more aggressive in all the good ways however after playing long scale for over 30 years i find my hand smashing Into the headstock constantly ND if you have big fat sausage fingers you have to do some finger gymbastics and I'm only able to use my middle finger to get to the top frets. Other than that amazing bass! Oh that and the pickup is insanely hot and you have to keep it turned down to around 3/4" or it ovsrdrives everything.

I'm leery of anything from Gibson simply from a QC standpoint, but you talked about that. They don't have a good travk record is all I'll say. I just got a MIM Charvel, and for the same price, it brings a lot to the table. Roasted maple neck, DiMarzio pups, truss wheel, EQ. And it's a Fender. Not saying what a good bass it is, just that for the $999 price point there's a lot of competition. What does this bring to the table that sets it apart?

I really want a shorty, and if I were to buy one.... this is the one I would most likely buy. Every other Shorty out there... while yea they have a bad reputation as being "the beginner's bass" ... well, sadly,. it seems that manufacturers are STILL on that particular mindset.... because they all LOOK LIKE they're purposely designed and built to be "the beginner's bass" and so most them are instruments that I just wouldn't want to be seen playing in a live setting.... but this one, I'd take out on a live stage in a heartbeat! The only other Shorty that I would love to own would be the Spector model, because Spector gets it with theirs. They didn't make some cheap piece of trash like the new Epiphone Newports (what with those ugly colors Epiphone!) - nope, they made a powerful professional quality shorty that sounds like it wants to be a 34" beast! Now if Epiphone did some better quality paintjobs on their Newports and made them look less... "beginner'ish".. then maybe I'd take them more seriously... better yet, I would love to see Gibson's take on the Newports! Yea, Gibson! Do a Newport with the same paint jobs as these DC's and take the ugly pickguard off... that't be something to see, and something to buy! Or how bout that Epiphone EB-3? Why is it a 34" while the Gibson SG EB is 30" I would so buy the Epiphone model if it were a 30".

I'm unable to remotely tell whether the craftsmanship on this bass is notably better than on an upper-tier Epiphone, but even if so I'd rather do all the fret-levelling, modding etc. on an ostentatious Epi than buy such a sad, flat mahogany plank with a Gibson badge placed on the headstock to make for the entire bad impression

I've messed around with these at guitar center in the past, they're pretty cool, but significantly over-priced. Same with the guitar version. They're $400-500 guitars with a $1,000 price tag. I know, typical Gibson, but there are too many VERY cheap aspects to justify anything close to that price. They don't exactly feel like they're built to last.
@remfour444
@remfour444 2 жыл бұрын
I played one when they were on sale at GC for around $700. The quality of the finish was shockingly uneven. The body wood seemed soft, prone to denting. The pickup looks cheap. I have a 70's Gibson EB-0 and the quality of every aspect of that instrument blows the Junior Tribute away. I'm surprised Gibson would want their name on this bass at this price.

Not worth the money with Gibsons neck issues that they won't redesign. I cannot justify owning a guitar that will spend more time on a luthiers repair bench than in my hands being played. For that price I can get a used Euro series Spector NS.
