It is too shinny but I have to give this 5 stars for the colors. They are not perfect, but they are close. For my tastes, the top could have maybe a tiny bit more color, in places, like a tiny bit more red, left-over from the fading in the sun as it set there unsold for $275 for years. ... but it is okay as is. Some are like this. No color left. The is very close to right, and the color of the back looked pretty wrong before he got to the final product. It is still too shiney but for the tools he had, you can't ask for a better job. Someone get this guy some better tools and better materials, like a nitro finish. Great work man. Subscribed.

as I wrote this, I forgot that it was not real 1950's conversion that he was working with, so I was way too harsh. That top looks pretty good, like a 50's faded burst.

How did the plastic binding hold up to the stripper?

It's been a long time , but I remember that the stripper doesn't do any damage in the binding. I remember that I put a tape in the binding, maybe two or three layers of tape.

I just came from a Gibson relic-ing video. Those are only $14999.99 or so. I also saw the vid where a person shot a Les Paul with a shotgun. Yup. Shot it!

Sure you can but I don't know what varnish Epiphone use. Nitro or Poly? I think the procedure to remove poly is different, like using heat gun, but I am not 100% sure.

Looks good, 4 coats would have been plenty though. The gloss in the final part of the video is way too thick. Looks like a refin
