Great review Jorge! After wastching your last three Gibson guitar videos, I am definitely going with the Les Paul jr. Thanks and you are a good player too. 👍

They have the 498T/490R pickups in Les Paul Customs so, I would say that they ARE in fact their high end pickups.
@JorgeSalasGuitar2 ай бұрын
They are the “cheaper” ones coming in at $100. The Burstbuckers are more expensive. Technically, the Burstbucker would be higher end 😁

Good review, thanks. And you must be the only person in country music not knowing what a poker chip is :-) (kidding, of course)

Hey Jorge! Saw your video with the Les Paul Modern Lite as well, which one do you prefer between that and this one? Also do you think the non-covered pickups on the Modern Lite sounds better? Would appreciate it!
@JorgeSalasGuitar6 ай бұрын
This one I prefer! I think non-covered pickups sound better period. I don’t know the science about it but there seems to be a TAD more bite in non-covered PUPs. Just my opinions though! Thanks for your comment!

To clarify: The bridge pickup is the 498T, not 490T. Also, not sure what you mean by them "not being Gibson's high-end pickups" but this same pickup set is what comes stock in many Gibson Custom Shop models, including the LP Custom, SG Custom, Explorer Custom, Flying V custom, among others.

So true. The “high-end” I usually mean are the Burstbuckers. Should’ve clarified. Thanks!

I love this pickup set, but they're cheaper than some Gibson pups

@@JorgeSalasGuitar With Gibson I don't think the price of their pickups have anything to do with the quality and being more "high-end" at all, I think all Gibson pickups are equally high quality and they are just priced accordingly based on the labor manufacturing and components used. To comment on the initial point made, the 498T is the cheapest Gibson pickup ($99) as compared to others like the Burstbucker ($150) or Dirty Fingers ($130), yet the 498T is used in the Les Paul Customs which is the pinnacle guitar of Gibson's craftmanship. For example my SG Tribute came with the 490T in the bridge and I wasn't a fan of it, I thought Gibson used it as opposed to the 498T because it was a budget pickup , but was later surprised to find out the 490T costs $120 which is more than the 489T which I prefer. So it's all just preference. Similar thing with Seymour Duncan, the JB is their most popular pickup at $99 despite there being more expensive ones, so those higher price tag has nothing to do with a "better" sound.

@@OneStepDownVEVO I feel you. I have to say the burst buckers sound muuuuch better to me than the 498 pups. Just my 2 cents.
