Hot sauce...... I remember the day I got my first Les Paul......bought it from some rich kid on Long Island NY...... remember walking into his house which was like a mansion.....up to his bedroom where he had a lot of guitars.....pulled it out from under his bed.....sold everything I had to buy it ......all for $350.00 bucks.....played it for 10 years and pancaked the frets......sold it for the price I paid for it......used a friend's guitar until I could afford a new one.....went to Manny's one day in 1988 and got a new one.....which I still have today.....it's in mint condition..... Cherry Sunburst Standard...... I have a number of guitars these days and mostly play a telecaster which I built.

Been following JD for years now. Big fan, pleasure to see him love twice. Incredible player. Seen him switch direction and image a few times now and he never seems comfortable.....I mean the fake accent and put on jive talk is completely distracting and undermining his incredible talent. Keep hoping to hear what JD Simo actually sounds like, not the phase he's going through.
@wesv36083 жыл бұрын
Sort of tend to agree, not sure about the accent comment, but this change in sound, direction, gear etc., I just don't think it plays into his strengths. Preferred his overdriven Marshall tones, and not really a fan of the reverb drenched clean tones... but then again, his choice I guess, as long as he loves doing what he's doing..

There are a lot of really nice brands besides Gibson. You can spend anywhere from around 2,000 give or take on something like an Eastman or a Heritage of which you have some very interesting aged finish options with like you said to maybe 5,000 or so on the high end for something like a Collings . I would really recommend Collings to anyone who is considering a high end/Murphy lab Gibson guitar, they make their own versions of every Gibson guitar and they make them all better than Gibson. They also offer really nice aged finishes for only a $500 up charge. Gibson makes so many guitars that you have to pick through them, where as Collings you can buy off the internet sight unseen they’re so consistent with quality control.

My father collected dozens of vintage amps and guitars in his lifetime. I grew up around the best vintage gear you could imagine. By the time I inherited all of the gear later in life, I was completely over it. Maybe it’s because I was over exposed growing up but today I just want to hear about modern ideas and designs. The same stuff has been coveted and discussed gear wise for over 70 years. Time for something new...
