Finally Thunderbird gets more attention, still not enough though since it’s not most copied/selling bass yet, but it’s still a step into the right direction

@@MisterStabbyfix what? It’s the most comfortable bass sitting down. Have you played one, in a group or band? They have made the head a little smaller, and mine has the light weight turners, and I have no issue with neck dive. It would if they put the strap button on the top horn, but in the back is fine. I have no issues. You also don’t wear a guiter strap with this bass, because it’s too heavy, and strap would cut into your shoulder. I originally played a nEpiphone EB3, aka SG bass, and that had huge neck dive, because very small body, but I played it fine.

Was lucky enough to see pantera at ozzfest 98, Milton Keynes. Was one of the best performances I've ever seen, they were unbelievably tight. As one of my mates put it, " it was like listening to an album but getting kicked in the head by passing crowdsurfers"
@KevinMarquezRocks782 жыл бұрын
I saw them in Venezuela around the same year. I thought the same. It was like listening to a "cd", so tight and clear sounding. I remember Dime throwing a whammy bar loaded solo, and the cloudy night sky opened up to let the moon show up... It was magical. Good memories.

I play an Epiphone Thunderbird Pro bass, and it’s active, which I love since it has a lot of tonal variety. However, this Rex Brown signature is also active, but has no treble or bass pots? What’s the point of it being active then? Gibson also tends to cheap out on the screening the logo on the headstock instead they do it in the truss rod covet? If Epiphone does it, why can’t Gibson? I do like my Thunderbird, and it’s the most comfortable bass to play sitting down. I also have a Gibson EB, which is more like classic style basses, and playing it sitting down hurts my forearm.

It sounds great, albeit tad too dark. I find it funny tho, a Thunderbird was never really in his arsenal or his “sound”. Rex has been primarily a Spector player, and that Spector sound cuts through the mix. So here comes a Rex Brown Gibson Thunderbird, although Spector just showed 2 new Custom Shop NS basses commissioned by Rex for the upcoming tour.

Just ended my case with Gibson. The quality control is terrible and especially with the TB's. Bought a Rex Brown and the neck pickup broke within 2 month. After waiting for half a year, I received a brand new bass with a broken bridge pick-up. Not to mention al the dents, paint issues, worn gold on the knobs and the scratches.. Gibson statement: "We can completely understand your lack of faith in the Gibson brand after the experience of 2 basses failing and will understand any decision you make in future purchases." Meaning: Just go buy a different brand.. To bad that such a cool looking guitar and a company as Gibson with its history, is so bad in 2024. I really don't recommend buying this bass...

@@ampthebassplayer It's like buying a Gibson Les Paul that's not a carve top or not a set neck, or buying a Tele that's not single coil or a Strat that doesn't have a trem bridge . . . It happens, but if I want a LP, a Strat or a Tele that's not actually a LP, Strat or Tele, I'll buy from another brand. A Firebird's main selling point (except maybe the pickups) is that it's neck-thru. Would you buy a bolt-on necked, single-coil Firebird? Why not? Would you buy a set-neck, dual humbucker, hardtail Strat? Why not? You see, I do a one-man, full-production studio channel. I need my Strats to Strat, my Teles to Tele, and my Les Pauls to Les Paul. And my Thunderbirds to Thunderbird.
