I don't own one,but the Slash Les Paul sounds better to me than the standard 50's. The Duncan Slash pickups sound great -the perfect Les Paul sound. I've seen all the Slash models, but that November burst is the ONE! It seems to be getting in my head, but I don't have 3k handy. I would have to sell some of my other guitars. If I get obsessed over it,I'll find a way by hook or by crook. I don't suppose you'd be able to help encourage me,please talk me out of it.

If you want a more 60s style Slash Les Paul, look for the 2013 limited edition models. I have a 2013 Rosso Corsa, and it is the nuts. Slim taper neck, Seymour Duncan pickups. If you're choosing between these, get the 50s and get a set of Seymour Duncans. As an aside, that 50s won the freaking wood lottery. That back looked mental.

I got a Slash LP (November Burst), expecting to try it and move it on for something else. I liked the particular top so much (VERY unique, not the typical pin strip flames) and the tones as a contrast to the sounds of my other LP’s so much I kept it. Very raunchy like this guy says. I just couldn’t get on with the neck (have smallish hands) so I committed the cardinal sin and sanded it down to a thickness in between 50’s and 60’s profiles and refinished it in a couple coats of Truoil. Plays amazing and has become my #1 rock guitar.

Seems like the big differences are having "Slash" written on it and the Pickups. Everything else is the same. You could even swap the pickups in the 50s for Seymour Duncan Slash signatures and it be even better than the Gibson made pickups they made for his core line. Both have great paint jobs too. Great video.

I wouldn’t be disappointed with a standard 50s, but having a November Slash LP - it’s the brutal guitar I’ve ever owned on the full beans. Absolutely rips. However, rolled off to 7/8 ish it’s super sweet tone on both pups through a plexi.

I have a brand new Gibson Appetite burst, which I assume is identical to the November Burst aesthetics aside. Amazing guitar but the pickups are a bit muddy and the neck is definitely on the skinnier side for a 50s profile. I have a few Les Pauls. The Slash is nice, but so is the faded 50s that was discounted a year or so ago. My favorite is the HP heritage cherry with replacement locking tuners.

I've only played 2 examples of the Slash Signature LP and both were really, really nice. A small sample size...I know. I've played well over a couple dozen 50's Standard LP's and I remember each one being mediocre. The nut material and nut finishing on all of them, including the Slash, sucked though. I much more prefer his old setup of his first signature amp (Silver Jubilee), his old guitars, the normal Alnico II pickups and Monster Rock cables. I don't know, I didn't notice any difference, and it would be best to do it blindly, because when people hear Slash, they immediately think that it must be better and sound better, it should be, but is it always like that, today I watched Slash say that vintage guitars don't sound good always good and it's the same with the others, it's true that Gibson is currently taking advantage of this whole hype around it and how they raised the prices skyrocketingly, I'm not a guitarist but I love rock n roll and guitars, I have a friend who has a terrible collection of old guitars Gibson 335, Tele, Stratocaster, Gibson GoldTop Deluxe are all old guitars more than 50 years old, he also has a Gretch White Falcon and some others and he can never get enough because he loves it and has his own Blues band, it always amazes me how and why people who play and know how to play don't at least buy a good vintage guitar, either Gibson, Fender or some other brand, ok, I know they are expensive but man you love it, you still play if you have or plan to have a band, you need equipment and tools, I said I don't play, I know a few chords and I intend to buy a Gibson LP standard up to €3000 and a solid amplifier up to €1000 if only I had it because I love it and I can make a little noise, and even better, he would be happy to lend it to friends if he needs it for a gig, because these things do not lose their value, I know they are expensive but I think that every guitarist should make an effort to earn and buy what he likes, in the end it can always be inherited by a daughter, son or grandson, so guys, grit your teeth, try a little harder to earn money for a good guitar, I'm sure you won't to be sorry, as a child I started and wanted to play, but you couldn't buy a single quality instrument here, there simply weren't any, so I quickly gave up and switched to motorbikes, and they are my first love, I bought a Harley 1200 Roadster a few years ago and arranged it to look like a bobber, it looks sickly good and now it's time for the guitar, Gibson LP Standard !!!
