I’ve owned 3 Gibson guitars. Electric that is lol. 2 studios and a 71 standard. I can tell you that the studios are a fantastic instrument for the money. My 96 studio has a 50s profile neck but my 2018 smokehouse studio has a thinner profile almost like the 71 standard. I swapped out the push-pull pots for traditional pots and a set of Seymour Duncan, Saturday Night Specials in my 2018 studio. It is a fantastic tone. My next purchase will be a Les Paul classic in ebony

This video really explains it. Definitely true about the standard 60s having the thin neck.. it’s very thin compared to the 50s which I found to be almost too bulbous. A very underrated model is the Les Paul Traditional - it’s very close to actual 50s spec and feels like the necks on the custom shop reissues. If you can find a used one from between 2008-2012, snag it!

Couldn’t be happier with the guitar in terms of playability and looks. It was the fourth LP I have purchased from L&M in the past year and a bit, Epi LP worn gold top, Epi Limited edition LP 59 standard in addition to an Epi LP ebony custom. I bought my first Epiphone Les Paul in 2002, and it was an absolute dream guitar for me. I couldn't afford the big name Gibson. I did upgrade my Epi LP a couple of times, from the plastic Kluson tuners to metal Grovers. But just a few days ago, I pulled the trigger on a Gibson Les Paul Traditional Pro V in Satin vintage cherry. It was on sale with tax for just under $2k (It's 2k retail, pre-tax.) Comes with a Gibson case, and it should be arriving at my store tomorrow sometime, so I can pick it up after work. Could NOT be happier, and I loved your knowledge of the various LPs and the features you gain as you move up the different levels. Very informative. I'd love to see a Trad Pro review from you as well, since I'm subscribing :)

I just bought a Gibson LP Traditional Pro V this year and am very impressed with it. A sale at GC made it very affordable. I know it doesn’t make a lot of lists because it's a GC exclusive but it's a Les Paul through and through. It has the coil taps, phase shift, locking tuners and trad bucker pickups that make it unique from all the others.

It doesn't matter where the LP came from. What matters is how it is set up and maintained. I learned a value lesson with Gibson tuning problem. 2 guitars, 2 nuts, graphtech tuners, put a string tree on the d and g string, different strings and sizes. Turns out the right luthier who can cut a nut right makes a huge difference! Lol. My LP 50's standard Goldtop plays as smooth as the almost $6000 custom shop I played while I waited for him to work on my guitar.

Thank you for your expertise. I learned a lot more about Les Paul guitars. I have a 1972 54' Copy Custom Les Paul. It is 51 years old this year. It sounds beautiful with its P90's. I love playing it more than my 1986 Stratocaster made in Japan, of course. I had a relative, David Wiegand (Deceased), who had much to do with inventing the pickups on guitars as well as magnetic tape recorders. He was an electrical engineer. As a Born-again Christian, I like Phil Keaggy's guitar playing, especially when he lets loose on his, I believe, 60's Les Paul. If you have seen him play, check out on KZbin his 1980 year of playing his song, "Time."

@JustinWaterfield84 Жыл бұрын
The intonation on a wraptail bridge will never be perfect, by virtue of its design. Sure, there are aftermarket wrapover bridges with compensated saddles…but that kind of defeats the point, for me anyways. The SOUND of this style of bridge is what matters. Look at it this way - Leslie West played a Les Paul Junior, and nobody complained about HIS intonation!

Tried for a year with it and can’t bond with the sound. An easy mod is to scrap the binding so you can see the maple cap line. Took me a few hours and looks so much nicer
