I met Snake at the grocery store in 2005. I shouted, "Snake! Dude!" He shouted back, "Dude! You!" and gave me a high five. I thanked him for being an influence on my playing and he seemed genuinely proud to hear that.

@@SamprazDoodles It was a Ralphs - which is a pretty middle-of-the-road grocery store in LA, probably the most common. I don't recall what he was buying, but he had a hand-held basket rather than a big cart.

Which is a big reason he wants nothing to do with a certain former singer of his these days. Met them at a record store signing back in summer '89 when they were opening for Bon Jovi. Snake, Rachel and Scotti were the coolest and took a minute to talk with everyone, but even back then, that former singer was a complete ass.

I saw Skid Row supporting Guns N Roses back in 1991. I've been a massive fan since. Snakes persona is nothing like I imagined him to be. Considering he made some of the best riffs of the 80s and 90s he is so humble and down to earth. Wish him every success.

Hi Sydney. Port Mac, here. I love what he said about groove , how the snare sits on the back of the beat , and voila, that's their groove ! I never realised this but that is precisely why I loved them (and still do). Think of it : without that groove, they'd be Iron Maiden! It's what kept them in the 'Hard Rock' genre and not 'Metal'. It's the groove that puts this swagger, this rolling attitude...a common thread in all the Rock bands I like : G n R...the Cult...ACDC....even Motley Crue & Poison! ( I'm not admitting to being a fan of the last pair...but let's just say I've learnt a solo or six from our Glam friends , CC Deville & Mick Mars 😉).

I bought both the tab books for Skid Row when I was like 15 and then learned them note for note, even though they weren't completely accurate which I figured out over time, and I still have them to this day, I always felt like Dave and Scotti were incredible guitarists, you guys just had a much heavier sound than most other bands of the time. Both you guys were a huge influence on my playing, I don't know if you'll ever see this Dave or Scotti but I just wanted to say thanks cause I still jam to Skid Row to this day. Oh and Here I Am is my favorite riff from you guys just so cool sounding.

Music was never ever this good Again. I’ve chased down their sound for 30 years. Still don’t have it despite buying an Ada mp 1 that they used ( couldn’t afford it when I was young). But still need way more components then I have. Wish they would sit down together snd do all the riffs and solos from the first album!!!! That would be amazing!!!!! My favorite band as youngster, they shaped my life and gave meaning to suburban Sweden where all you could do was : Practice drums and guitar and daydream how life was over in Tom´s River, N.J . I used to skip school and watch "Ohh Say Can You Scream" All the time. THANKS for doing this, Dave Sabo and Rachel Bolan wrote the best songs and this video shows how they combined chops and Max Martin hooks (he used to sing in the band "It´s Alive" around -91, Martin White was his stage name), a winning combo for sure, and i think their music sounds as good as then. ♥️

I know everyone has their favorite part of this video, but for me, it's that he's just playing a guitar into an amp. So many guitarists we like do instructional videos and they are going into a rack with $100,000 worth of gear like Axe FX III's, Eventides, etc, into walls of amps. This is simple, and helpful and to the point. Well done!

I seen him play the whole complete first hit album in Oct. 2019. Guy still sings great. It's a major shame grown men can't get along when they know the majority of their fans would love to see a reunion tour.

I`ve always thought that Scotti Hill is one of the most criminally underrated guitar players ever. Never really paid much attention to Snake, but he seems a really cool dude.

@Andy Cummings well, I didn't want to sound rude about snake. What I meant was that I always saw Scotti as the lead guitarist in the band, and Snake kind of flew out of my radar. But that is my own (clearly flawed) perception. Maybe due to the low profile of the band (outside you know who) I never got to the point of reading about the band and who was the main composer and that kind of thing. This video clearly proves me wrong and puts Snake under a new perspective. And that's why this video is great

I just received the Dave Sabo guitar and it's beautiful, not disappointing at all! I have it with my original 1990 Kramer Nightswan. I added some Fu-Tone Titanium saddle screws and saddle blocks and the brass big block, wow does this guitar come alive! The Sabo model knocks it outa the park, just a beautiful beast of a guitar! Dave is an awesome guy, would love to meet him.

This is killer! I was hoping you guys would get snake on here aswell!! The two guitar tandem of skid row is not complete without scotti AND snake. These guys work so well with each other. These guys are right up at the top of my list of 80’s/90’s dual guitarists. I always admired what I can’t do! I can do the eddy, randy, zakk, dime thing of one guy filling up as much sonic space as possible. But sharing space with another guitarist has always been extremely difficult for me. Not because I’m greedy! But because I’m too dumb musically to understand how to let someone else in.

Another awesome episode from you guys and girls on Gibson TV. Dave seems to such a nice guy and Skid Row's awesome music are going to be played forever in my home. Did get to see them -89 in Stockholm with Mötley Crue as a 15 yo teen, it was a awesome concert. Ofc it's before social media and everything around the bands were much more hidden in mystics. Will music ever be this good and magical again?
