@@sassuki I'm 2nd Dan black belt in Shotokan JKA, 2nd Dan in Kyokushinkai, Black belt in Japanese Jujitsu, purple belt in BJJ. I've been in martial Arts Since 1990. I know Bunkai not only in karate but other disciplines aswell.

This explains why this style is impractical. It was created by an old man. Fighting is so fluid such that practising these movements is only good as a healthy past time, and not a way for preparing for self defence.

Funakoshi was a good teacher but a mediocre/bad fighter, his writings are valuable but yeah since the begginning shotokan has been pretty soft

@@MagDiSante funakoshi adapted his style of karate for the olimpics and tournaments, not for real fights, motobu choki who was an okinawan karate master as well, challenged him beacuse he didnt like that karate was used for sports and because funakoshi didnt want to teach how to use weapons, grappling, etc, and won 3 times in a row by throwing him, it shows that it doesnt depends on the karate style, but the teacher, what he teaches and how he teaches, motobu choki had a school, and taught people until he ran out of things to teach as books say, Jesse enkamp studied this and explained all of this if you wanna do some research!

Funakoshi and Motobu were in touch and Motobu even sent some of his students to Funakoshi ... Motobu started to have a certain hard feeling when he defeated a boxeur and the newspaper reported the fact showing a picture of Funakoshi ... He also was quite jealous of the success achieved by Funakoshi's school... Motobu once talked about un "unknown master" that he defeated but Funakoshi was then very famous and not unknown... You're Just talking about things that You don't know and You should instead do some Better search : Funakoshi didn't like karate competitions at all, he was against them !!! All the system of sport karate, rules etc was conceived by master Nakayama and he once said: when i Will be dead and i Will meet Master Funakoshi again,i Hope he won't beat me with a Stick because i invented the sport Karate ... There are also some scripts of Funakoshi where he talks about self defense saying that It Is One of the goals of Karate ... I repeat : You should search Better and with more attention.

Leo por aca algunos imbeciles criticando al maestro Funakoshi que si era malo que no era un gran peleador y demas wuebadas...vamos aclarar algunas cosas.Funakoshi creo un modelo y una metodologia para enseñar el karate y los maestros okinawenses copiaron ese modelo,Kenwa Mabuni un gran peleador y maestro Okinawense le pidio permiso a Funakoshi para abrir una escuela de karate en Japon.y Funakoshi le dijo si ,tambien le deseo suerte y ahi recien se animaron asomar el hocico otros maestros.creo firmemente que si Funakoshi no hubiera introducido el karate en Japon,este arte marcial estaria desaparecido e inclusive otros artes marciales hubiesen corrido la misma suerte ya que la difusion del karate en occidente arrastro a las otras artes marciales orientales e inclusive artistas y leyendas como Bruce Lee no existirian..asi que el aporte del maestro Funakoshi es inmenso...saludos del Peru..

@@johnbulcaster7464 Many teachers are not good fighter, but he must be a good teacher. Gichin Funakoshi used to be a Japanese teacher, which means he's a good teacher in Japanese language. That makes he's better than any other karate teacher like Motobu Chōki. Cause they learn karate in Ryukyuan languages in Okinawa and cannot translate it in Japanese fluently. If you cannot transfer your idea to others, you cannot be a good teacher.

Motobu appears in many pictures with Funakoshi and it is known that he sent some of his students to Funakoshi, saying that they would have been happier with Funakoshi's way of teaching ... And i also wrote that the two masters got in touch very often : Motobu even used to send some of his student to Funakoshi, i don't believe that he would have done it if he thought that Funakoshi was a bad teacher !!! Of course, the episode of the boxeur easily defeated by Motobu with all the newspapers reporting that new showing Funakoshi's picture created some hard feeling in Motobu ... Furthermore, he was jealous of the success achieved by Funakoshi's school. Any any case Motobu himself was always beaten by his older brother and by some other masters ... no one is "invincible" !!! Last but not least : if You think that Shotokan focuses "only on Katas" (that are very useful in any case) and that it's ineffective, You should know it better and try some good Shotokan master ... Yoshizo Machida learnt Goju-ryu when he was young, but then abandoned it to learned Shotokan, and taught his sons to do Shotokan. One of those sons was Lyoto Machida who used Shotokan to take the UFC belt and became one of the most well-known Karate fighter in MMA world. That kind of style is definitely not a "fraud" lol

La leyenda que dicen de Choki Motubo ataco a Funakoshi delande de sus alumnos es recontra falsa ,para los que no conocen como era la jerarquia social de la epoca,no podias atacar o agredir a una persona mayor en esa epoca ademas Choki Motubo era «extranjero» en japon ademas de ser un simple campesino de okinawa y no se olviden que Funakoshi ya era una persona respetada en japon ya que introdujo el karate en las universidades,donde solo estudiaban hijos de ricos comerciantes y descendientes de nobles samurais ,entonces ya se van dando una idea que la envidia causada por maestros okinawenses por lo bien que le iva llendo al maestro Funakoshi,ademas las fotos antiguas de esa epoca se ve retratado a Funakoshi con varios maestros okinawenses ,parece que algunos no se llevaban bien aunque por la educacion jerarquigica de la epoca habia mucho respeto,unos de los que mas bronca e envidia le tenia a Funakoshi fue Chojun Miyagui del estilo naha-te (goju ryu) este inclusive no viajo a japon ,es increible pero la mente pequeña y provinciana de estos maestros hizo despues que el karate se fuera fraccionando y se creara muchos estilos entre comillas,porque al final todos tomaron como base el metodo de enseñanza del maestro Funakoshi...osss 😠
