After Mabel and Dipper see a show put on by Gideon, he quickly makes moves to ask Mabel out, despite her just wanting to be friends. She tries to tell him she's not interested, but he just CAN'T let it go, leading to some WILD plans and ultimately a fight! When we first met Gideon, I was as already apprehensive as Stan, mainly because he was definitely looking for some sort of power. Also, fun fact: Alex initially had the idea for Gideon to have a twin brother hidden inside his hair. Unnecessary? Probably. Hilarious? ABSOLUTELY!

This is a surprisingly mature episode for a show that was pretty comedic up until now. Sure, it had mature elements and adult jokes, but not a full on murder attempt which wasn't even retconned by Gideon saying that he wanted to cut Dipper's hair or something like that, a *genuine* murder attempt, a nice guy storyline about how Gideon feels entitled to Mabel's affection and resents her for refusing his advances, and Mabel learning to stand up for herself and say no to him, and not to mention that Gideon is actually a pretty scary antagonist and the show doesn't even pull jokes at most of his 'scary' moments, it genuinely paints him as scary.

The amulet was only one, and its ancient artifact. It was very powerful and dangerous, author of journals buried the amulet once he discovered that the amulet corrupts soul of the user and whitens hair

You gotta love the wordplay for character names in this series. We had Toby Determined in the last episode (i.e. To Be Determined) and now Gideon Gleeful (i.e. Giddy and Gleeful). Don’t know if anyone has mentioned it yet but telekinesis is a vastly overlooked and utterly broken power if you 1. know enough about physics and 2. understand that details and specificity are important. Depending on variables such as precision, “power output”, concentration, etc… you could interact with individual atoms, the things you could do with them, terrifying. Example, rip them apart particle by particle… or force them to vibrate… creating friction. So technically, if you’re telekinetic, you can simulate pyrogenesis (fire creation) and pyrokinesis. (moving fire with 🧠) and tbh? You can take it even further! Telekinesis is well and truly more broken than people give credit to. This was my TED talk, thank you.
