It's called Campero because it is the classical shape of the knife folks used in the countryside (el campo) when working here in Spain. It is a totally Spanish knife, included its history :)

Even Larin Thomas (knife steel nerds and the developer of MagnaCut) agrees. He broke down the composition to its chemistry and compared it to other budget ingot steels. Its basically the best mix of toughness and edge retention you can get until you more into powderform steels. Check out his posts about it specifically or his video breaking down most of the common knife steels in toughness vs edge retention on his youtube channel.

Very cool. No experience with Joker Knives, but a good bit of experience with Bohler steels like N690 and K720, and Sandvik 14C28N has become one of my favorites to be honest. I grew up in south Florida and live in the East Appalachian Temperate Rain Forest. I learned to appreciate a good stainless blade many years ago and with the right heat treat and cryo-quench the 14C28N is an impressive blade steel.

If the knife were any thicker it would be a club! Still, it's not as thick as some. I had a Falkniven, stupid thick! Back in the day, 100+ years ago people didn't beat their knives with a club, they simply gathered small wood to start their fires. The modern criteria for a bush craft knife, according to You Tube, is how well it survives abuse from couch potatoes.

All I can say is that I have watched your Joker Lynx and Nomad videos. There was even a bit on the Joker Nessmuck. You made the choice for me to choose Joker. They are a phenomenal knife all around. It is hard to find something wrong with them. I currently own the Nomad. Simply awesome and will be adding the Joker Nessmuck soon. I wanted to carry the Nessmuck as I am from the Adirondacks and would find it honorable to carry a knife so similar to the one carried by George Washington Sears. Again, I can attest to the craftsmanship and the durability of these knives. They are kinda stand alone. I am so glad that you opened the door to the Joker company and that I took your advice. I bought a Joker Canadiense with walnut handle scales a few years back. In short, I love it. The build quality is superb, the steel really holds an edge and is tough, and it came shaving sharp. I did eventually put my own edge on it (just a bit thinner), because I'm so used to it, but it's really just fine the way it comes. And, like you said, the sheath is outstanding. You would pay a lot for the sheath alone to have one made. My only regret is not buy the micarta version, for the added texture/grip. I felt like staying super traditional at the time, lol.

Owning a bunch of Joker knives , i must say that for the price is hard to get anything better . And that Sadvik steel performs like a slightly more robust D2. If you are considering about buying one , just go ahead . Just that seath of them of that great quality , for me is at least a 50 dollar item!

Manly Knives, similar prices, BEST full flat grind geometries on the market, better steels, better heat treament plus Kydex sheath. PS Made in Europe too.

@@greekveteran2715 I also like Manly. I have the Patriot at D2 . But i can say the fit n finish of Joker is at slight upper level. For example the kydex seath of Patriot has a bad design at the holes , i could only reverse the fixed loop at a scout carry position

Yes actually did a video on them a year or so ago call Blades but nowhere near the fit and finish levels that Joker is producing and nowhere near the quality of materials. But at least here in the states bps Knives is a budget option when you’re looking at him compared to Mora knives.

Man!! I have to say that spanish manufactures make great quality products! Muela, Cudeman, Nieto, Joker, etc...and you can see that on this video. Great value!! Sure you find better things, but much more expensive. As a great knife, desing to be a knife ( i know it sounds silly) Spanish cutlery is just amazing!

I watched this video at least twice, if not more. I think your videos are what introduced me to Joker Knives. As good as Joker Knives are, I’m surprised i don’t see more about them out there. I feel that they are flying under the radar a bit. At their price point, they’re a great value. The sheaths are awesome also. I have a Trampero. It’s a pretty neutral handled knife. Yet when you slide the knife in, it lightly snaps into place. Colour me impressed.

Great review! I've had a Joker Pantera, but it just didn't work for me. However, the fit and finish were flawless. I have the Joker Erizo and will never part with it, I find it to be the perfect companion and EDC knife. I'm buying another Joker knife today, and the Campero is at the top of the list, but I need to finalize my decision between it and the Montanero or Bushcrafter with a full flat grind. I'm sure that it'll be the Campero that gets the nod. Thanks again for the great review.

you cant go wrong with joker knives super good price, very good quality (the finish puts most expensive knife brands to shame) you guys in the states are way to obsessed with high carbon knifes in europe its the other way arround we like our stainless steel 99,99% of us will never come in the situation where they have to use their knife to throw a spark to ignite a fire you might do it cause you can but we all have ferrow rods on us and any hard edge can throw sparks from a ferrow rod even aluminium but you dont have to do it i take böhler n690c, 440c and sandvic 14c28 over 1095, 1060, o1 or d2 any day all your highly praised high carbon steels are cheap and you got brainwashed to thinking you need a high carbon steel you dont... even if you come in a survival situation you will still have your ferrow rod on you the chance you lost everything but your knife... yeah its not a movie my guys the survival situation is allready very unlikely to happen... and a situation where you loose all but your knife... come on guys... plz... slime to none is the chance...

Hi there!' Well, here's some good news for some new content! Victorinox has just launched a new dedicated fixed blade Bushcrfat knife (Note: they insist it is NOT a survival type knife!), and it's called the Venture. It may be a bit difficult to obtain one in the US (it's basically sold out in Europe!), but if you can I'd be very interested in your opinion. Enjoy!

The ABSOLUTE best survival knife you can have is... the one you got on you. Stop trying to justify stuff. I have a knifge dreamer's collection of knives still in the original packaging. But, the best one I have "when needed" is the one I HAVE on me. ALL blades are Rc 58 to 62,... all. You want a good knife blade? Go with D2 tool steel or better! You want surgery? Stainless is the best! All after is just mixes of steels. How many handles can you get?

Too bad they have no variety of lengths. All of their knives have about the same blade length, ca. 10.5 cm, which I find too short. Ideal length for me is 12-13 cm, but they don't have that.

I have the nordico and it's great .high quality fit and finish all things mentioned I agree. Relatively new to scandi grinds it seem like it's a little too thick with too shallow of a grind to do anything other than carving or wood craft well. I know that's where scandis shine but compared.to terasaur , Mora, or the bushlore seems less useful overall. Any body have a thought on it? Think it was a design choice or trying to add strength? I like it and am happy with it just less likely to carry it by itself

UPDATE: I now own a stag handled Nessmuk and the Campero with Olive Wood handle. The first Nessmuk I received was a little wonky and exchanged it for another with a more symmetrical handle from left to right. The Campero does not have the fit and finish quality of my Lynx (seamless between scales and tang/liners). I wanted to note that my Campero does not have J Sabater on the blade and was wondering if you knew anything about Jokers that are not marked as such when others are. Thanks.
