I love mine. Been using it now for about 2 years. Mine has scandi grind with the stainless and not a problem keeping sharp. I like the mass of it and has become my main camping knife for all your reasons you show. If you ever get the opportunity to use on processing game, you will not be disappointed - it is superior. I agree it is a tough knife. I would have went with the wood scales as the antler will be hard to hold when cold in winter.
@westcoastbushcrafters5 ай бұрын
Good advice! We only have the saber grind and can imagine a scandi grind will be awesome. It is on our wishlist! We will keep in mind your advice about the wood scales. Thanks!!

That’s good to know. I wanted a larger knife for bush craft but my main outdoor use is skinning game
@davidvaughn775225 күн бұрын
@@cameronharris2862 Yeah, the bump in front on the topline of the knife lifts the skin away from the bone/carcass allowing for a great advantage during processing, especially when you don't want to puncture the abdominal cavity. In my opinion, and after using a Nessmuk style knife, there is no other field cutlery knife that is able to do the job as well. It was designed for this very task by George Washington Sears in the late 1700's who earned the name "Nessmuk" from the Natives given to him as a sign of respect and was one of the first Europeans to publish a book concerning survival skills in the American Frontier. Good luck.

Great knife. I love my Jokers and this one especially. Their puukko is also excellent and also comes in 14c28n. It’s a great pair with the Nessmuk. Joker makes a lot of excellent knives. A lot of people don’t realize that some Casstrom knives including the Lars Falt are actually made in Spain by Joker.

Hi Yes, Joker makes great knives, and yes we knew that. We will check out the puukko soon . Thanks for the advice 🔪🔥

I don't have the Joker Nessmuk, but would love to get my hands on one, even for a loner to test and review. I have 2 Joker knives, and they are both outstanding. the quality of construction, and fit and finish are just perfect. I have 2 Nessmuk design knives, and the blade shape, and overall utility of the design deserves a place in everyone's collection of bushcraft and field knives. I love that this comes with a dangler, I wind up putting one on most of my field knives. good video, and good review.

Just bought it on sale at Lamnia in Finland for 889 Norwegian Kroner. They only had one left, and it was a high saber grind like this one. It is a good buy. Casstrøm knives is having the blades made in Spain. Maybe made by Joker?? Also bought the Cold Steel Drop forged survivalist too. Very good knife, with a flat grind blade in 52100 steel(ball bearing steel) And a SteelBuff Tracker knife, Limited Edition 04, made in Ukraine. Made in N690 Cobalt steel and iron wood grips. What a beauty. Also a high saber grind knife, that is my favorite blade grind. Er dere fra Norge eller Sverige. Høres ut som Norsk måte å snakke Engelsk på?? Ikke noe galt med Engelsken, den er helt strøken. Subbed👍

What is the best stainless scandi ground large knife for bushcraft? Your opinion would mean a lot.
@westcoastbushcrafters Жыл бұрын
Good question! Most large bushcraft knives we have are or convex or in a steel that is not stainless. Only knife in our collection that fits that profile is the Helle Nord. Maybe not the best feathersticker. Worth checking out the Lt wright illuminous 5 even though it has not a stainless steel like you asked for. The scandi grind is awesome and great bushcraft knife. Hope this helps. Cheers!
@splinterdevilblood6366 Жыл бұрын

I think you said it is a flat grind, but I am sure I saw it listed as a convex?

Although I’ve been enjoying the content of your channel and Im a subscriber, I can’t remember a knife that you haven’t liked so far. I’m not exactly sure I’d take any of your recommendations going by your reviews. Yes they give me some ideas, but if everything is great no matter the price, it’s all good in your opinion. So what’s your point? I guess you don’t revue the bad ones, or you just revue for a personal price.

Hi That’s a good question. We buy all our knives ourselves, so we do some background checks before we buy them. We love knives and we say if the spine is not sharp enough, or if they don’t baton well. Luckily for us, we have only bought good knives.
