I wonder if the ribbed hat you showed (that you cannot remember the pattern name of) might be the Two by Two hat by Anne Gagnon. It’s a free pattern on Ravelry and I am knitting one right now. @@bleemenne thank you! And it might be the one. The pattern is great but I think I was ever so slightly off gage and it seems like it doesn’t take much to get the size wrong on an item like a hat

I am also dislike swatching... since it is a top down raglan, just go with the 2 strands and add some more rounds to make it bigger. Usually works like a charm 😀
