The gift mode thing is garbage. I've tested it numerous times and it NEVER pulls up anything close to what I tell it. Doesnt work and they wasted 8+ millions on this???? That $$ could have gone to removing drop-shippers, scammers, etc.

I agree, it also doesn't really show a lot of shops/options. Kinda limited and not too sure how it promotes shops either. I just love the lack of transparency Etsy provides. 🙃

Yeah, the results aren't more specific the more interests you choose, as it instructs. Pretty sure it's just the first one they populate search results from. I've tested several times & it's just awful! If we can't use it as sellers, how do new buyers stand a chance?? And like you said, how about investing in getting the current site & functionality up to par, rather than promoting a sub-par distraction that'll just irritate people? Not surprised though, tbh. Just Etsy Etsying, as usual

This ad confused everyone in the room with me. 😅 "Why is there a superbowl ad for cheese gift platters? Are those popular these days?" Was my older relatives response. They had 0 clue what Etsy was after watching this, and seem to think it's a company for sending food oriented gift baskets. It totally missed the mark on advertising what Etsy is. To the point that when I tried to explain... they lost interest and focused on other ads instead.

When I look for a physical item, the first several pages are all custom. There really needs to be a separate category for custom items because not everyone looking for a physical item is looking for a custom item. It is very frustrating for me the consumer looking for designed items to see nothing but an ocean of custom, custom, custom listings which all look the same, before I can get to what I may be searching for.

Tell me you've never had Midwestern artisan cheese without actually telling me. France does soft cheese the best, no doubt. Italy wins with mozzarella and Parmigiano Reggiano. The Midwest US has some of the best cheese makers in the world, especially Wisconsin, but honestly, they're all over the Midwest. I've traveled all over Europe, and I know what I'm talking about. Every Christmas my family has a cheese board comprised of 30+ cheeses from around the world. The Midwestern US knows what the heck they're doing. To say otherwise is to be completely ignorant.
