Thank you, Lori D, for your kind words. The difference between the two items is the heating process. The instrument for hair blows hot air at a temperature that will not burn the scalp (unless one goes too far!). The heat gun must be excessive in temperature so it shrinks plastic, sometimes to the point where the shrink wrap tears if you're not careful. Glad you asked and hope this explanation is helpful!
