God has given each believer at least one Spiritual gift. (1 Cor. 12:1-12) They are to be used to unify and build up the body of faithful believers. To unify and edify means building up. All believers have a Spiritual gift. If you do not know your Spiritual gift, ask God and He will reveal it. There is a difference between Spiritual gifts and natural ability. All men are not created equal: some are taller, stronger, or smarter than others. With Spiritual gifts, Christ is glorified and believers are edified. How does a believer develop his gift? By fellowshipping with other believers in the local assembly. 1 Corinthians chapters 12 through 14, which is your assignment this week to read. Christians are members of the same body. Eph. 4:8-10; Phil. 2:5-11; Eph. 4:4-8. There are three lists of Spiritual gifts in the New Testament, and the lists do not match, which indicates that there may even be some other gifts in addition to those listed. The lists are found in 1 Cor. 4:11, 27-31; Rom. 12:3-8; Eph. 4:11. Some gifts are more important than others. 1 Cor. 9:1-2; 14:5, 39; Mt. 18:1-4; Acts 1:15-22; Eph. 2”20.
