That happened to me when I was all into Star Wars action figures and the ship’s and playset’s and for Christmas one year they got me The Micro Collection Bespin World. It’s not really playable. It wasn’t till I was older when I started to really appreciate it. I’m glad I kept all my stuff. Such a big part of my childhood.

It actually happened to me as a 9 year old in 1978.. but it ended up being a blessing in disguise. All I wanted were STAR WARS figures.. My grandma got me MICRONAUTS because she didn't know the difference. I ended up loving them & still do!
@MrDiddlebug9 сағат бұрын
Micronauts were awesome. I had a few, and they had some pretty cool vehicles too.

I still have my Micronauts and Battle Cruiser from 1978. They mean so much to me...

I remember getting the terminator with the flesh chamber. You mixed some poweder and it cast over the terminator body. The figure didnt move. It was a damn statue. But after the first cast i realized how cool it was peeling of the flesh for imaginary battles. My mom even helped me make homemade latex mixture with flour and something else once the stuff it came with ran out. It turned out pretty cool

In 1981 I asked for a Slave 1 and I got a twin pod cloud car. :( That was the last year I ever asked Santa for anything.

funny thing is... many of those Bootleg figures are worth a fortune now. Just try finding a Mr. Rock figure on card these days.

My favorite bootlegs from the 70s were the Lincoln International '8-inch Monsters'. The Mummy being my all-time favorite. 50 cents in K-Mart in the mid 70s, now you'd need to rob the bank of Monte Carlos to afford one...

Christmas 1983 I asked for a ColecoVision, and what I got was a Coleco Gemini. It was basically an Atari 2600 knockoff built by Coleco. Ah, well. First world problems I guess.

Junkman should do a video on cool toys kids never ask for. Like the Transformers mini pinball game I got in 1984. A on brand adjacent toy that parents buy to mix things up. Like the Artoo punch bag.

First, the Atari 7800 wasn't that bad. I had one. (Still have it.) It would use the Atari 2600 joysticks, and it played Atari 2600 games. Oh, and it had an arcade perfect version of Ms. Pac Man! 2, when the Members Only jackets were popular, A lot of brands ripped it off so there were plenty of copycats. The most popular color for those jackets was black. For Christmas one year when I was in high school, I asked for a black Members Only jacket to look cool for the girls. I got a jacket alright. It was a knockoff, and it was blue.

Tootsie Toys was one of the bigger companies that made those metal cars with no bottom, windows or opening doors or hoods. The ones that usually came in a pack of a few similar cars. Kids must have destroyed most of them because you'd be surprised how much they go for on Ebay.

As a kid I was only disappointed on one Christmas 🎄 It was 1983 and I said I didn’t want anything except for a Fender Stratocaster as I’d been playing for 3 years and was ready to step up to an electric. I got everything but the Strat 😅 I scored big time with ROTJ & MOTU including a Castle Greyskull

Every Christmas eve mum and dad took me visiting in laws. I always received extra presents from my dad's sisters/brothers etc. So it was actually exciting to see these aunts and uncles who for the rest of the year I never saw again lol. Anyway they knew about star wars etc. So on Christmas day I found that I had received a Flash Gordon annual from one of them - not star wars. Two boring football annuals (same book twice) and a Space Warriors pop-up book... Yawn
