Late to the party, but being a music festival lighting technician, I will say that this lighting setup is really nice for the size of the area you had to work with. With the ML's on the side, that's a really nice touch, also gives your setup lighting from different angles instead of just the front where the stage is. Some things you could add is some generic lighting, just a white type of colour on the DJ, since you cant really see him very much. Other than that, its a nice setup. Well done

I was initially wondering why this popped up on my feed. I was looking at Barr and Rick lighting and this popped up, and man I’m glad I watched it. The lighting is obviously killer with the programming. But, the DJ was killing it with the transitions and song selection. Really digging the lighting effect with the music. I have midi fighter as well that I haven’t used yet, so maybe this will be a good way to incorporate this into my setup as I begin to start my lighting rig. Would love to see how you did it. Keep up the killer job and keep rocking 🤟🏽👍🏽💯 Oh, and you have a new subscriber as well.

5th Element Entertainment I may have a video of it I’ll take a look. It was nice to have the qscs up there since they allow you to angle down. We ran a separate xlrs from the mid output of the driverack that allowed us to set the eq and limit different than the mains. It also allowed us to time align them to the mains.

I gotta ask...this is kind of a cart before the horse question ....how much do you guys pull for a gig like this....I would love to get my setup to this level one day but the investment of gear would be massive and the schools won’t pay....
@DJILLEE
@DJILLEE 5 жыл бұрын
We were worried about that as well. The way we got around that barrier was breaking it down by ticket price. So for a school like this there was a steady 800 in attendance. When we explained that they could up the ticket price by $5 it was more digestible. The key was for use to get in front of the students in charge instead of just a teacher or someone in charge. They make it happen in most cases. When you look at how much they spend on dresses, makeup, limos and dinner...$5 is nothing. They took the chance and the first dance we did with this setup they had nearly 1200 there. They saw record profits despite spending more on us.

How did you quote you client like that ? They probably on budget or something how do u talk them through
@DJILLEE
@DJILLEE 5 жыл бұрын
I actually talk about this in a reply lower. The real bottom line is that you need to make sure you already have a really good relationship with schools you want to sell it to. You also are going to need proof of concept for them so a few free/deeply discounted upgrades for a few school dances as well as a really talented videographer to capture what you're capable of are real necessities. Once you've done these things then the real key to locking in the dances is to get in front of the students, not teachers, that are in charge of putting on the dance. The students are the real driving force to getting it approved and figuring out how they can afford it. Bottom line in most cases, ticket prices have to go up. How much depends on your price and attendance at the dance. We've found that more people come to the dances even with higher ticket prices so they tend to show record numbers for profits. When that happens it makes it REAL easy to lock in more schools in your area.

This is an amazing production for a high school event. It would be cool if you did post a song list as you go from song to song quickly in the video it is hard to hear some of the lyrics to try to identify what the song is. It is amazing to me to see the same songs getting the same reaction from schools all over the country. The last homecoming I did I swear if I just put footloose and Mo bamba on repeat they would have loved it, sigh....
