the truth hurts. I hope this doesn't come as a shock to you, but the gig work that we all know and love will not be here forever. we will eventually be displaced by technology when the time comes. rather than becoming fully dependent on this, I want you to develop your creative skills that can't be replicated by a machine. go out there, try new things, get curious, and build something that you've always dreamed of. you aren't a true entrepreneur if you are addicted to these apps, build YOUR skills and YOUR future not someone else's.

It's so sad that our society has been indoctrinated to think things like "daily grind" and "side hustle" are things to be proud of, the cause for inspirational memes. Only in a country who's heart and soul is consumerism, and unabashed capitalism, could societies elite not only get the populace to work themselves literally to death, to enrich the few, but make it so they're proud to sacrifice the precious time they have on earth, to fill the pockets of others, as they chase that carrot they'll never receive.

Awesome Advice. It's Game Over Here on South Beach. If you look at the map, this part of town is only about 2 miles wide and 3 miles long (or less). In the past 3 yrs, it Seems like every South American and their mothers (literally) flew over here to do Deliveries. The kicker is they all work with 2-4 phones all with different accounts. Some of them are illegal and rent accounts from the Legals that have accounts but don't use them. I used to be able to sit home and get deliveries all day and night. Now there is a group parked in front of every single restaurant on scooters and they take deliveries for $2 & $3 all day. So either the companies realize this now and hold back tips, or the customers got used to not tipping. Either way, 99% of the few deliveries that reach my phone are for $2. It's Game Over.

You shouldn't have to f-up your car, don't you see why gig work, app jobs have become so popular? Because it allows corporations to run almost entirely on employees they are forced to call themselves independent contractors, which frees the company of ANY responsibility, including health insurance, workers comp., employee benefits. They've known this since the early days of Uber and Lyft, when venture capitalist invested billions in the gig economy, taking a loss for many years. Why do you think Uber was so damn affordable at first, and the drivers were still making a little bit of money, well those days are gone. Get out while you can, technology is not what's going to ruin this industry, this guy is waaay off.

I'm starting my new job at the post office over in Arlington, just retired from Doordash, UberEats, Grubhub after delivering over 6000 deliveries in the southwest twin cities area. Served me extreme well, was able to make 25-35/hour before gas/expeses on breakfast/lunch shifts. But I truly know that this isn't a good career to have. I think post office will fare better during an economic crisis if/when we get one plus many positions are open so it was easy to get in plus the benefits are insane. I feel blessed good luck to everyone with their lives hope you all are happy and prosperous.

Self driving cars will not happen any time soon. The current system uses cameras to detect it's surroundings. They have a blind spot with the color silver and reflective surfaces (chrome). Until we have a system where cars could communicate with each other and the internet system to make all that happen self driving cars ability will be very limited. Company in CA used robots to deliver groceries. All automated and self driving. They went bankrupt.

I’ve heard this one before ...here is why you are wrong ....customers enjoy these apps because they like to be catered to. (By a Human) When they write “Leave on table next to door, and do not knock I have loud dogs” ... they expect notes to be read and followed. As soon as they realize that a robot is sitting at the end of their driveway and they actually have to move a distance outside of their house every time they will stop using the apps. The companies will lose money and the entire thing will collapse. Gig work is going nowhere my friend. But I agree it should be used as a stepping stone to something bigger and better. Also, humans are insanely efficient. Can you imagine how long it would take a robot operated car to deliver 10 Walmart grocery orders? LOL!!!!!

Yup ain’t going to happen. Just like people uploading their memories and thoughts to a computer. That doesn’t make AI more human. It’s all programming code. People think we are on the cusp of AI tech when we are actually light years away. But sci fi sells and has for like 80 years. To create AI that could possibly off humans we would have to give them consciousness. We aren’t close to even figuring out our own consciousness and reality, let alone creating it for a robot

As I handed the woman her pizza, I said, there's an irony of me delivering food to people that are feverishly working to put people like me out of a job, she laughed and said' We are several years away from that. She did say that General Motors is the most advanced on the campus. Eventually we are going to be replaced. Apparently after spending $100 Billion on self driving cars, it has become obvious that a self driving car is a lot more difficult to develop than previously thought

Economist vehicles as in driverless vehicles let's see how that works out spoiler alert: they will literally crash and kill someone or economist vehicle as in Electric cars ha! Commieville california has proved that's a failure considering now they're telling people not to charge their EV's (Electric Vehicles) due to their hysteria about the their power grid and plus they're breaking down and cost more to make and buy than a fuel powered vehicles. Now I look at like this I'd rather have a gig job because 1. I'm working when I want to 2. I'm not around anyone because people annoy and aggravate me in general and 3. Most importantly I'm my own boss and I answer to nobody. I'd rather have a gig job than a normal 9-5 job . Nope being a gig worker that's the life for me 😁

The autonomous effect is still a brazen theory on the grand scale of things. You know how many times I heard growing up that Ethanol was going to replace oil and our cars would run on grocery store items. Pushing people to diversify their output is always good advice but basing that on a theory that most likely will not come to fruition is disingenuous. DD is SUPER saturated but that's temporary. Telling people about the autonomous stuff WHILE the market is saturated is borderline fear mongering. We heard nothing about this stuff when everyone was making 30+/hr 🤷‍♂️

we’re you thinking you were going to advance in the gig itself? did you think you would be the head honcho of Doordash? oh i’ve been working here 10 years and never moved up. that’s on you, these are stepping stones, use them accordingly and correctly. idk why you started off by saying you can’t move up. save better, have a plan and move into what you want. what it looks like you’re doing with youtube, and you’re on youtube bashing this option for others. wild.

Haha remember Amazon drones. Hahaha. All it takes is a few of those cars hitting people or accidents and bye bye autonomous delivery. Remember flying cars 😂. Nah it won’t be in your lifetime dude. I think fast food workers, waitresses and cashiers will be replaced because no one wants to work but not delivery for a long time. It’s all for marketing. I’ll wait if the metros start moving that direction I’ll still have time to make moves

Let's see an autonomous car deliver to a 30th floor apartment or condo building lol. Also the more automation the less jobs and the less money people will have to pay for these products and services. Ai will never be able to mix with humans unless the government gives everyone 30000 a year. I make like 120k annually 30k wouldn't be enough to live on.
