Automatic RAM cleaner only activates when you enter the ESC menu. It does not do anything otherwise. It works EXTREMELY well when you press ESC though. To reproduce, go on streets, wait until RAM climbs to 24GB+ and then press escape. Observe RAM drop to 13-14GB (with Afterburner overlay). It's useful if you find that your game starts stuttering the more you stay in (as you reach the limit of your RAM). Also, a friend's game crashed at high settings 1440p on streets after the ~30th minute cause he maxed his RAM. If he enables this and presses ESC in the middle of the raid, it no longer crashes. But this can also be solved with a larger pagefile.

Hey Gigabeef, asked about this on a stream recently and you gave me a quick rundown, and now we have a full breakdown! Thanks so much for the work you do
@Dyils8 ай бұрын
3:20 Just a little hint for streamers - lowering textures, as well as LOD or any visibility distance setting (in any game, not just Tarkov) will increase the visual quality of your stream. Less detail in each frame means compression can leave more of the original image in and thus you get a cleaner sharper image with less blockiness especially when in motion. Probably not a huge deal if you're recording for KZbin cause you can record at high bit rates, but maybe a bit of a bigger difference in streaming, especially if you're not hitting that 8000 bitrate. Easiest way to tell is to stand in the same exact place, looking the same exact way and take a screenshot. Check the filesize of the screenshot. The one you take with lower textures will be smaller and will need less compression when being streamed to Twitch/YT.
@Omni_Actual8 ай бұрын
I definitely wouldn't mess with LOD in this game without doing some research. As of 2-3 wipes ago it affected the render distance of actual players. I have no idea if this is still a thing, just mentioning it because that could be a massive disadvantage you impose upon yourself.
@IVIDK19878 ай бұрын
@Omni_Actual have not tested but I believe pmcs will render at any distance.
@HanzFikchss8 ай бұрын
@@IVIDK1987 That is untrue. Although the distance for this to take effect is rather too large (500+ meters) However the issue is not as simple. The render distance also changes with FOV. The narrower field of view you have the longer the character models renders. The distance which the character model renders is a combination of the overall visibility setting you set and the fov you set. There used to be a video that showed it well on woods across the pond.
@IVIDK19878 ай бұрын

@WooweeYT8 ай бұрын
LOD Quality is actually pretty taxing on the CPU; however, LOD Quality also affects how far player and scavs models are rendered when unscoped. It's typically not an issue though. LOD 2 is 200 meters. LOD 4 is 400 meters. So if you had it set to 2, you won't see players at 300 meters unless scoped, for example. This is only really an issue on longer range maps like Lighthouse and Woods, maybe Shoreline. I usually play on 3. On sniping maps I set it to 4 and on Streets I use 2. Adaptive Sharpen is way too taxing on the GPU for what it is. Set it to 0 (even 1 is bad) and just use the regular Sharpness setting. It has basically 0 affect on performance and looks just about the same. If you're trying to take advantage of GSYNC/Freesync/VRR, at the very least set an FPS cap below your monitor's refresh rate. But you really want to use an FPS cap that you can hit 90+% of the time. So if you had a 240hz monitor, setting a 235 FPS cap isn't great IMO, set it to something like 100 or 120 - whatever FPS you can maintain the majority of the time. Also, turn ON Vsync. Yes, turn it on and turn off Nvidia Low latency and reflex. Seriously just try it. Here's why an FPS cap and Vsync ON is best with VRR (smooth config): kzbin.info/www/bejne/fabFYpV_ZpeCers I have a 5800x3d, 3080ti, 32GB RAM. I play at 3840x1620 ultrawide (nearly double the resolution of 1440p) and use an FPS cap of 116. My monitor does 120hz max but I can also maintain 116 FPS most of the time. Frame times are super consistent, there's no screen tearing or microstutters. My Rivatuner frametime graph is just a flat line - it's seriously butter smooth. Streets is still not great tho and has pretty big FPS fluctuations. Streets is a massive CPU bottleneck as my GPU is only at 40-50% usage so there's not anything I can do besides upgrading to a 7800x3d for only 10-20% more FPS.
@chonkiboii8 ай бұрын
Agree with everything here except Nvidia Reflex. Why do you say to disable it? Will try it when I get home, but from all my research, it’s good to have it on usually. Also, I played around Fixed refresh rate, v sync, g sync and frame rate limiter options extensively and found 0 difference between all possible variations for maps with good performance in general, i.e. Reserve, Customs, etc.
@WooweeYT8 ай бұрын
@@chonkiboii Technically you should be fine with Reflex turned on. However, with the frame cap and vsync on, Reflex won't engage in that scenario. There used to be major issues in Tarkov with it on (supposedly those are fixed). I've also heard there's issues with both Reflex and Resizable Bar turned on.. but idk if there's any validity to that. So basically it's not helping with it on, but it may cause issues, so I leave it off.

@invaderknive61588 ай бұрын
It might be because of CPU bottlenecks. From what I have heard in older hardware putting a heavier load on the GPU by using higher texture quality, SSR and HBAO makes it easier for the CPU to run without any issues. Though this isn't always the case which is why settings are usually very finicky and you always gotta do a Lil bit of tweaking for your specific system
@raa96678 ай бұрын
Since you both have older PC's it sounds like using the lower texture resolution setting for Streets is putting more load on your CPU since its turning down graphical textures (less textures for the GPU to load). Some people have an increase in frames by actually turning up GPU intensive settings (Textures, SSR, HBAO)

For those of you with older processors, especially intel processors, if you’re getting frequent stuttering ( frames dropping over and over again when you’re moving around ) there’s a good chance turbo boost is causing the issue. If you can’t disable turbo boost through your bios ( older laptops like mine ) Throttlestop has an option to disable it. You will absolutely lose performance, but if you’re constantly stuttering like I was, having your processor run off lower ghz but remaining stable is a much better experience. My particular issue is heating related, with the cpu boosting up to 4ghz but then having to throttle back down to avoid overheating, over and over and over, making tarkov in particular unplayable.

The mipstreaming thing for some reason only happens on factory for me, i didnt turn it off regardless because it didnt seem like i was getting any performance boost out of it either way. No issues on Shoreline for me, really only streets still sucks, im on 8gig vram too, but i got 48gig ram, maybe tarkov wants more than 32 now? lmao

Hi Gigabeef, thanks for the tutorial. I'm wondering if this is my set up or in game options. Currently I am playing on cpu AMD ryzen 5 2600 x and gpu AMD radeon RX 5700 XT. I have 16gb RAM. Basically streets does not load at all, or if it does it is just unplayable. I can barely move, fps spikes are insane. Loading to Lighthouse also is an issue, it takes around 10 minutes to load the map, but at least it is playable. Other maps are loading perfectly, and I can play them with no problem. Could you advise if I am having these issues bc of my setup? Would the in game settings change anything? Thanks.
@Gigabeef8 ай бұрын
I'm not sure streets is playable with 16gb of ram - even with low textures and the checkbox I think it wants more than this, unfortunately that's probably the issue. Even with that though, streets performs pretty badly on most systems even high end ones so don't get your hopes up too much!

Running a 4070ti with a 10700k (until I can afford a new cpu) @1440p and most settings on high and get 70-90fps depending on what map, area etc. Cpu only ever 35-45%. Gpu 80%.

SSR has nothing to do with scope modes - you couldn't see the reflections because the source of the reflection was not on your screen space.

It is hilarious to me how Tarkov has a graphical option for a specific map, it feels like an admittal of defeat that either the map is too ambitious or that they can't optimise it properly lmao. To draw comparisons: imagine if TF2 had a low graphics option for Wutville specifically.
