The style and gameplay is very reminiscent of Target Earth or Assault Suit Leynos depending on your region and that's a very good thing! Definitely going to get this one physically!

Great review and I like the idea of a physicals section too even though I'm purely digital these days as I have no space!! I bought this game a while back and share your thoughts with the slightly awkward controls taking the sheen off an otherwise fine arcade shooter! Keep it up, fast becoming one of my favourite channels! :)

Hey Rick, yea I think Id like to cover more physical games If I get my hands on them and I've got some more ideas for future content involving physical items 😉 Yea I think the controls are fine when you get use to them though they can still be a pain occasionally, the sound effect volumes was my main bugbear, many of them sounded like they were redlining and attempting to blow out your eardrums lol.

@@SwitchStars I just recently found out Cybernator is actually a North American rebranding of a game series called Assault Suit Valken. Looked through my collections to try and find it and it was in neither my Switch Online Membership, or my SNES Mini which I was sure I thought it was on. Turns out I bought a digital copy of it on my Wii U years ago and forgot about it. The most modern game like it was a game called Assault Suit Leynos on the PS4 which I think is the prequel to Valken. All in all a fun series of hard core real robot shmup.

The whole physical versus digital thing has never been an issue for me until I got a Switch. I have moved to Digital for all other media types including Xbox One games. I think that I prefer to not have disk cases anymore but there are a number of problems with how Nintendo does things. The first issue is the size limitation of SD cards. Whilst they are amazing, it is easy to get up top the upper limit of the effective and safe card size. This impacts upon combination of 2 further problems - game file sizes for AAA titles like NBA2K20, Bioshock etc, quantity of small games that I have picked up but mainly with Nintendo’s insistence on not allowing SD cards to be swapped. I thin this does not mitigate piracy but does mean that I cannot have multiple SD cards with games stored say by genre or publisher and then interchange those between my OG Switch and Switch Lite... it seems like a futile attempt by Nintendo to try and stop something but ends up being somewhat anti-consumer. It should be possible to tie the Switch consoles to my account and my purchases and allow me to move the legitimate purchases that I have made regardless of the storage medium I have used.
@SwitchStars4 жыл бұрын
Yea I know what you mean, I personally have always preferred physical titles, not only because it feels like you own something tangible, but also you're protected if for some reason your account is deleted or they remove or block a game for some reason. Also many games become collectables and gain value over the years. I also hate how Nintendo does a lot of the digital stuff, like their game browser and interface when you re-download games is absolutely awful. Additionally you're getting things like the latest COD which is over 100GB...
@LFC_since19704 жыл бұрын
Star or Shovelware The E-shop is truly an abomination. Poor discoverability, poor search functionality, poor purchase management no ratings or reviews et cetera et cetera I guess this is a consequence of a company that have a successful product but the E-shop is truly the very worst part of the Nintendo experience for me. The biggest issue for me being that they show absolutely no sign of actually wanting to improve this aspect of their business
@SwitchStars4 жыл бұрын
Yea true, I don't know who actually manages that e-shop but they need to have a word with themselves. I assume they get some sort of money for each game which sells on there, which makes me wonder if that's why they allow any crap on the store and there's zero quality assurance..
@goaster1873 жыл бұрын
I agree with you all. The E shop and the SD card functionality, these things have kept me buying mostly physical copies. Another things is, I feel better knowing I have and own the physical copy. Don't have to worry about losing them or the download disappearing from the E shop, or losing or corrupting the SD card. Physical still entices me more.

Great game, deserves more recognition, simple and to the point. I think it’s just long enough, aiming for a no continue run, so far I can clear the first 2 stages with no damage, makes a big difference on the score and the game pushes you to do better as that is what makes a game great for me. My only complaint about this port is the glowing outline in every sprite, don’t really get why they’d do that. I like the whole presentation because it really takes from the first assault lynos, simple story telling is the main goal. Check Mech Blaze if you’re into mech games, more modern, a bit more fun, also the remake of assault lynos, really awesome, a bit more modern controls too.

I completed it and enjoy it, but it's kind of short. I like the graphic and the music. In fact the song of the first stage pump me up soOoooop much it's one of the best video game songs I heard. It's set the mood, this. Is. War.

@@SwitchStars yes indeed I agree ! I complete it on easy only, I will play again. I played with headphone and I was wondering does it blow up the headphone and it's badly mixed or it's just a style they gave. Anyway war is meant to be loud.

@@SwitchStars It's amazing (for an Armored Core fan), slow at the start, but after changing few mech parts and weapons the game opens up, shooting flying, using melee weapons all at the same time. It's a standard anime story (quite a lot of cheese). My favourite game of 2019 on switch, but I have to say it has flaws - cheesy story, some menus could use rework, grinding for some weapons. I think there is a demo on Switch (don't know if on steam) so you can try it yourself. And as always keep up the good work, not many people do these small games.
@SwitchStars4 жыл бұрын
That sounds pretty awesome, I do like a good mech game with lots of customisation options. I don't mind a bit of anime cheese, I think its expected with many of these types of games, and I don't mind a decent grind either, as long as you feel you're progressing or being rewarded. If I find the time ill try give it a go, thanks for the suggestion and thanks for watching 🙂
