I would suggest using BATs to man the detachable pods on these, as redocking those things after detaching them in combat would be a pain. Just look up the real world Goblin parasite fighter of the 1950s. Redocking in flight is dangerous and complicated, requiring far more skill than Cobra would be willing to invest in for rank and file personnel. I would also note that 9mm is very small for gunship chin guns. Most IRL combat gunships run 12.7mm or 20mm guns (NATO) or 12.7mm or 23mm (Pact). 9mm is an antipersonnel round most often used in sidearms. I always pretended that they were 20mm cannons.

Such a cool helicopter. I was lucky enough to get one back in the day. The large bomb that can be released from the belly was my ‘end all’ bomb whenever playing with the Joes.

The Cobra Mamba was one of my favorite toys as a kid. I had two Cobra Vipers to go with the flight pods. It was a shame the blades sometimes refused to spin up, but I learned if you spin the activator slower, it tends to work better.

I was lucky enough to get a Mamba when I went to visit a friend. He took me to a local vintage toy store and it was there in all its glory. They had a hurricane I almost got but when I looked at it the back had a big chunk taken out of the back from a dog unfortunately.

I remember seeing this in my local toy shop as in toy world looking at it and day dreaming. I remember the ad on tv but I remember more wireframe like night raven ad and can’t find it on KZbin. As adult it’s still a thing I look at and admire like the wolf and bug etc. it’s something I just love the design of and reminds of soviet military design, which is awesome. By the way the order of battle you mention is issue 4 and believe the publish in 1987 Anyway, such a great show men I love your discussions on figures and vehicles keep up the good work Hail cobra

MAN, I wanna play with these toys. I had the mamba as a kid. I didn't have a lot of vehicles but had this and that badass A+10 rattler along with slipstreams plane

I've always loved the Mamba's design!! Great color deco! Besides, it's Cobra's only helicopter attack craft. It also has a fully loaded complement of armament. I'm going to need at least another complete one. Think I have three, right now. I also love the Crimson Command Copter! Even though, it came out much later.

This thing was so damn cool. I never had the toy, but I've seen it in action, and I was able to build my own in Lego. My only complaint with the original toy is that I wish it had been in all black like in it was represented the comic, and it could use some basic landing gear.

I never realized they claimed the Mamba was super sonic. That is a horrifying in reality, because the blades would have to be going MUCH faster than the helo itself, and when blades start breaking the sound barrier, the airflow gets real sketchy and it loses a lot of stability, which they don't really have a lot of to start

50:11 To me the map looks like Ohio (my home state in the 80s). Rumor also has it that Hasbro was targeting Kenner’s Corporate Headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio.
