I was Air Force for 16 years. The new Trooper is just wearing a brand new uniform. I had very old uniforms that still held fit form and function / fashion. I think the different shades a blue is very realistic. Uniforms change over time and after many washes/ dry cleanings the color fades. I think the change in the blues is more realistic then most people know.

It is, I make bespoke dress uniforms as well as suits and can back this up, uniforms are not as uniform as people imagine.

They could issue these trooper/trooper officer/officer trooper/ officer officer variants every few waves in different color uniforms (but uniform color tones...if that makes sense), varying skin tones, and different mask variants and I'd likely be a buyer for every single one. They just need to retool the mould because some of these the hips don't sit right, making it tough to pose!

Finally found two at Target yesterday along with Retro CoCo. I vastly prefer the blue and the webgear on the Cobra Officer but I was still happy to pick a couple of these up.

I like this version of the trooper just as much as the previous released versions. The difference in colors isn't a big deal for me since I can just make the Classified ones the Cobra Night Watchers and the retro version as just regular troopers. Great review as always!

I have a couple coming. I really liked the vest on the Troopers and Infantry, but I'm always up for adding more blue shirts to my army. I'll reserve judgement on the color until I have them in hand.

I love the Cobra trooper and am thrilled I don't have to rely on ebay for my army building. That being said I ordered 18 am going to buy every one I see, because that's what an army of.

I just bought a Stalker webgear , painted it Tamiya Dark Grey, put it on a Cobra Infantry. I have 15 Cobra Troopers ( 5 opened ) and 6 Infantry ( 2 opened) cuz the rest is Mint

I love the Cobra Troopers!! The blue officer is my TOP DAWG favorite, likely due to the subdued shade and overall clean design. I see what they were trying to do with the web gear but it looks like you have to fuss with it a bunch. I ordered 2, but might add a few more depending on what he's like in hand. My retro design would have been officer web gear, lose the gauntlets and shin guards, officer buck no medals, optional head w/ red cloth mask with light skin tone, laser weapons.

I was not collecting the Classified Series when the previous Troopers were at retail. Now, they are a little too pricey for me to build a squad. I've pre-ordered two of these new ones, but I was hoping the blue was going to look a little less intense in hand. Now, I just don't know if I'll use these, or if I'll just bite the bullet and buy a few more of the older Troopers. I could tolerate them not matching the Officer, but they should match the Valkyries since they are basically just female Troopers. I know I'm going to paint the grey details black. I think the web gear will look better completely black. Hasbro needs to pick a lane with the retro line. Either recreate the vintage figures, or recreate the Sunbow look. These would have been awesome if they would have stuck with the darker blue like on the vintage figures.

I like the vibrant blue, but it is weird that it's so different to the previous troopers. I never got any of the other troopers so this could be good for me. I wish they'd made it pinless though.

I ordered 5 through pulse. I think that their color more closely matches Cobra Commander. I’ll have to wait till I get them to see in hand… they will work fine for background fodder.

I actually like this blue, but I've already built a little army of the more muted blue, so they are frankly redundant. I may buy a few as fodder, though, especially for the cloth masks.

The officer also has a cloth mask. And my older troopers will be like the heavy duty type. While these are the regulars. Got 5 of these coming. Already got 4 infantry and 1 of the cobra island trooper. Who has the patch on his arm functioning as the squad sergeant. So 1 of these will also be a sergeant and lead by the officer. I also got 4 valkeries with 1 of them being a officer. The others with regular helmets. totaling my force of 15 troopers in blue. That's beside the red Hiss pack.

I have a few in my pile of loot. while I dont disagree with anything you said, nor am I trying to sway your opinion in any way, but to me, if this is a RETRO version, I think this is the bare bones buck to use and also the blue is much more 80s. I do like the modern navy blues of the standard classified lines but I dont know why people are comparing these as if they should fit in. Retro Cobra is a crazy blue, and Stalker is a crazy camo, so this makes sense to me. The retro blaster is an awesome add and should be with all cobra soldiers like you said. The cheap reuse of Spirit's rifle is pretty garbo, but thats also Hasbro and big companies for you. Unless Im going for the cartoony weapons, anything "realistic" is coming from more expensive figures or somewhere like Gridiron anyways so in the end it doesn't bother me, just think its weak sauce, especially for it to be an enemy. Someone else on the Joe's getting that rifle is SOMEWHAT ok (if they have to) but to have cobra using the same guns as Joes is just weird.

Excellent review. Yeah, this one really disappointed me. It's surprisingly phoned in imo, given that all they did was swap and kitbash a few ill fitting parts and give it the same harness and kit as one of the good guys. There's better parts they could have used too to get a more retro looking figure, but even so, at the very least they could have tooled a new harness. The blueshirt deserved the same treatment as Scarlett and Duke imo, but there it is. You saved me a good bit of change on this Bee! Thanks again!

Just asking to see if a QC issue or just my bad luck :P ordered two and one of them his drop down joint is fixed in place to the point pushing it up only eats into the softer left part lol. Other one is fine though, hope not back to the 50/50 figures of Hasbro hehe.

I like the retro packaging, but like the muted (more realistic) classified colors. I would swear the retro colors look even brighter than my original 3-3/4 from 1983, but ive never seen one side by side. Anyone ever compared them side by side?

@@beesbattlegrounds Revised File-card info: Cobra blue-shirts join the ranks and then are given initial tasks like pressure washing mud off of Ferrets, Stingers, and HISS tanks. After completing these tasks, their first field mission is fetching coffee for the Cobra Officers, Techno-Vipers, and more seasoned troopers and infantry. "If they can't be trusted to get coffee orders correct, they don't receive access to live ammunition." (Scrap-Iron's journal)

You would think making a variety of rifles for classified wouldn’t be that hard , just upscale the molds of the 25th anniversary through the 50th 4” modern Gi Joe figures rifles , who knows what Hasbro thinks

This release is very underwhelming, first its blue color will not match with any other trooper/cobra character, second it's an outdated body mold that detoriated at the hip section. Compare the hips of the retro against the og cobra island release and you'll see what i am seeing. Hopefully we get an army builder 2 pack with the trooper and the officer with updated molds.

I wonder why Hasbro did not give us the correct helmet. That helmet does not fit. They should have remolded the original officer helmet so it could fit correctly. The cobra officer head used on the retro is slightly bigger than the trooper head so the helmet is just off.
