You are welcome! This is exactly why we created GilEvansTV! I transferred this tape from my mom collection, I'm just not sure who mailed it to her? We are grateful as well!!

Your commment is highly intelligent, full of sensibility and perception. Many thanks for it. I think that you're right: a new dimension that passed us by. This door, maybe, can be opened/available again sometime - unknown time and place.

Maybe this gem was getting dust in a lost shelf somewhere, some TV warehouse. I never heard Gil's version 'Freedom' before. 'Amazing' is a modest word to describe what I feel about it. Many thanks for sharing this :)

Fantastic and rare. The first song is Hendrix's 'Freedom', from The Cry of Love' album, in a great arrangement. Miles Davis wrote in his biography that he, Hendrix and Gil were arranging a date in NY to talk about a possible recording session. Hendrix died, however. I can barely imagine what these 3 geniuses could have done together.

This Hendrix session that never happened is like, I don't know, a new dimension that passed us by. The fusion/jazz/funk/blues, well... the MUSIC lover's dream. There has been lots of excellent encounters of course but seriously, I can't imagine how it would have turned out.

Lou Soloff (rip) on trumpet solo. Jon Faddis seated next to him. My guess is that is Bob Stewart on tuba. Possibly George Adams on tenor sax.
