@@shaquilhoskins3078 Steph is a shooter. Just an overrated one. More than half of his shots are threes, so he's definitely a shooter. Steph isn't a scorer, as in shot-creator. His shot mechanics are too clunky, and he shoots from a too low elevation, for him to reliably get his shot off versus decent on-ball defense. He requires picks or a series of picks and offensive movement to get his shot off. The Warriors has probably the most elaborate offensive scheme ever, intended to get Steph open for a shot. That's with Klay assigned on the point guard on defense, and drawing defense on the offense. And Dray acting as the playcaller, and at times setting screens. Steph is a good driver of the basketball, but rarely does drive. In clutch time Steph has never driven to the basket, but always settled for the three. And that three has never fallen in. The olympic final is the only clutch moment Steph has in his career. More than 5 years past his prime. Steph is a regular season shooter. And some sort of bad scoring option in the playoffs.

Not saying he can’t make a lay up in traffic or a middy. But let’s be honest he’s not looking to any of those things first like the others he’s literally a 3pt shooter who is glorified because of the volume of how many he takes. He was literally a back up to freak Frank Ntilikia who was trash. Dennis smith definitely use to kick his ass in practice but yet Frank got the mins while Dennis was just bench riding or some nights not even playing. Don’t believe he was better than his numbers look at his minutes look at his moments when they actually let him play dude was dropping 30 and playing lock down defense. To be considered the greatest scorer ever, you must excel in every setting: regular season, playoffs, and finals. Maintaining or elevating your scoring in all these environments is crucial. Melo, while an elite scorer, never reached the finals, and his playoff numbers dipped slightly. Without proving himself at the highest levels, it's hard to consider him the greatest scorer. MJ, on the other hand, not only dropped 63 points against Bird’s Celtics but consistently elevated his game in the playoffs and finals. Melo isn't on that level. The shooter vs. scorer debate is unnecessary-there are different types of scorers: those who shoot threes, drive, dunk, hit mid-range shots, etc. If you score at a high level, you’re a scorer, regardless of how you do it. Some players excel in multiple or all types of scoring; they’re all still scorers. MJ also played elite defense, which adds to his case. Imagine if he focused solely on offense like Melo or Luka do? Scoring at a high level in all environments matters because it shows you can handle pressure and remain unstoppable against the best, where defenses are specifically adjusted to stop you. Lastly, MJ has 10 scoring titles. Why is this even a debate?

@@4UnkleSloww It's a basketball term, maybe you're not familiar with it. Above the break means a 3pt shot that's not in the corners. The corner 3pt line is straight, right? Then it becomes curved as it gets to the top of the 3pt arc. The point where it goes from a straight to a curved line is called "the break". Scoring from 3 "above the break" , ie on the curved section, is more difficult because it is farther from the basket by a foot and a half. It's also where you find the elite pull-up 3pt shooters like Curry and Dame work their magic.

You got - perimeter scorers - scorers / mid range scorers - post / paint scorers Curry Harden Booker Tatum Dame are perimeter scorers. Mostly jump shooters. Deep range , quick releases and you can’t really just run them off the line. A shooter you run them off the line they gotta drive it and most shooters aren’t good off the dribble. Can’t get to the basket or can’t create space to get off a good shot. Jordan Wade Lebron Kobe Melo Regular scorers are more like face up but most of those guys were slashers that learned to shoot some and their best spots are high post. They can score from anywhere but they’re best getting to the rim or most comfortable getting to the rim. So it’s like their game starts in the mid range. Usually have post games and can go off the dribble pretty well. That’s why they look the most complete because their game requires it. Kareem Hakeem Shaq Embiid Jokic these the paint scorers and the guys who usually will just push you out the way. They usually aren’t that good off the dribble like embiid and jokic can dribble FOR BIG MEN but they still slow as hell so it only does so much

Kawhi for example on the Toronto run looked like a prime MJ bucket getting level of scoring Vs. Kawhi with the spurs. the teams systems allow players different roles and in turn that's how they're being classified. I think the metric should just be efficiency and difficulty of a players buckets. If any given night you're dropping 25+ efficiently you're a scorer in my eyes
