@KClouisvilleАй бұрын
No doubt, there's literally footage of fellow Thunder players boxing out opposing players when the rebound should have been their's to allow for Russ to run in and grab it. They also positioned him in less optimal spots for his own team when the opposing team shot free throws just so it'd increase his chance getting a rebound off a miss. It was blatant. Another thing people miss in comparing the tree....Jokic is far more efficient getting his numbers.

@@KClouisville Yeah you explained the BS narrative that only would make a sound argument if Westbrook wasnt going to break the offensive rebound record for guards very soon of which he's already third behind Jason Kidd and Magic who are 6'5 and 6'9 (and already has the best average) and if Westbrook the season BEFORE he averaged a triple double, was already averaging 8.6 rebounds and 10.4 assists. Then Ibaka, KD, Perkins and Sefelosha left. He was bound to get a triple double and before the season started EVERYBODY was saying he would. Then he actually did it and suddenly a standard fastbreak tactic to have the big man box out the other big so your ball handler can get the ball up court quick and the big man can run up quicker too that's been used over 50 years of ball, turned into an argument against him. They had the worst 3 point shooting in the league and their best offense was the Westbrook Addams pick&roll and Westbrook Addams fastbreak. Capela did the exact same thing for Harden and the ONLY reason people didnf say anything about it, is because Harden didnt average 10 rebounds. Thats it. It's not situational. That's dumb. It's conditional. It's the conditions are TYPICALLY..... 1. Best player. 2. On a top 3 (out of 16) team. 3. Having a career year. #1 is usually set unless you have 2 great players. LeBron didn't get it in 2011 the same reason KD didn't in Oakland and Shaq and Kobe were the 2 best players in the league in the 2000s. They cancelled each other out. #2 Is VERY conditional. It's also the he main reason Jordan lost Magic, Barkley and Malone. Their teams had better records. #3 is the root of what ppl call "voter fatigue". Who's having a career year EVERY YEAR??! Your numbers the year(s) you win are now the standard. You have to beat YOU at that point. The reason it changes is because each "condition" is progressively harder. Also it rewards individual AND TEAM greatness which is the ultimate goal. Look up how many times the MVP MISSED the Conference Finals vs how many times they made it.

Why does no one ever talk about Kareem winning it that one year when the Lakers had a losing record and missed the playoffs? I get that it was the 70's when the players voted no the media, but still? Even if Jokic has a .500 record. He's still far and away the best player in the league like Kareem was that one year.
@sidjones16Ай бұрын
Because that was the very reason (if I'm not mistaken) that players LOST right for their vote to choose the MVP. Also it was the 70s. There were NO dynastic teams. No dominant teams or players. Kareem put up big numbers but accomplished NOTHING. Part of being the best is that you make your TEAM better...hence the MOST VALUABLE part. (emphasis not yelling). "You play to win the game!" You can't say Jokic won BY HIMSELF, then when he isn't winning....hes by himself.

Someone already said it but I agree, at this point go on the show. Or have some sort of collab with Gil or someone from the show. You make some good points but you also overlook stuff just as they do in the moment. Even this video, you conveniently cut out the part where Gil and Josiah clarified what he was getting at with the Jokic 500 record slip.

Heres the thing ... THEY THINK WE DONT WATCH... Last 6 years. Nuggets lost in the semis 3 times, had ONE first round exit, won one ring, and lost in the first round and lost one conference semi. Russ hasnt been past the forst round since he played with KD. Its NOT the same. Russ was DEFINITELY stat padding. Jokic is a walking stat. Its a difference. We watched big men saceifice their stats to give russ more rebounds. And they went NOWHERE
@smoove2432Ай бұрын
Russ done something that hadn't been done in 30-40 years that nobody thought would ever happen while still getting a average roster who had just lost the best scorer in the league in the playoffs in the harder Western Conference. Without him OKC would of been picking number 1 overall the next year so he deserved his MVP.

Bulls were still a top 3 seed in THEIR CONFERENCE when jordan won his first MVP in 1988. They historically judged you by your seed in your own conference. Its been top 3 historically until as you said russ won it as a 6th seed in 2017. Changed things for the worst. So That point about Jordan in 1988 is nonsense.

Jokic should be in the conversation at this point, but there’s about 3/4 of the season left to play If his play continues like this, but his team is in the play-in, Jokic won’t win it And if Giannis and the bucks continue to trend up and get wins, maybe be a 2 or 3 seed, it will be Giannis In terms of Tatum, he will not get the proper respect this year, possibly ever Luka will most likely jump up in the conversation if his play improves

Why not adopt general parameters based on which the MVP will be chosen...for example: 30% is influenced by the success of the team he plays for, 20% - the number of points, 15% - the number of blocks...etc?! That way, personal opinions would be reduced to a minimum...
@williamwitt6212Ай бұрын
NHL has two MVP awards: one voted by the writers and one voted by the players association. NBA should do the same: have an award all about the politics, and have another award where game recognizes game. The player to name the toprhy after that makes the most sense is probably LBJ, since MJ is on the MVP trophy, but there are others you could pick, like Oscar Robertson, who was the longest serving president of the Players Association.

The reason the Denver nuggets is underperforming is because Denver wants everything to run through Joker when there are other player on his team who can play and make plays but if they are told to look for joker eveytime then thats on that coaching staff. Yes the nuggets should be better they literally was just in the wcf smh..... Its crazy how goalposts change based on how Jokic plays.... So as long as Denver is not winning, Jokic numbers are empty calories.

The other greats that don’t have an mvp is because they were literally the 3rd and 4th best players in the league. SGA should’ve won last years mvp due to his play and how his team added 17 wins. This year Jokic is a shoe in with the stats he’s putting up. An mvp can change a players trajectory and SGA was snubbed.

Luka doncic carried his team to the finals last year, beating everyone's sweetheart SGA and Ant, proving he should have been the MVP, and no one said a peep, if you were pushing SGA for MVP last year, you don't know what TF ya talking about. A loaded team like OKC and they still got dropped. Luka and Jokic are the best two players on the planet.
